About the Role
The incumbent in this position acts as a Product Owner/Manager, responsible for defining, prioritizing, and managing the product backlog to ensure the successful delivery of business value.He/She is accountable for the successful delivery of prioritized user stories and for ensuring alignment with business processes and application systems. This requires managing, communicating, and influencing the product life cycle and delivery across multiple stakeholders—including technology teams, third-party vendors, group functions, and business units.
The role demands strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask in a complex environment, and excellent interpersonal abilities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Product Management (30%)
Responsible for workstream planning, financial oversight, and ensuring platform stability.
Prioritize initiatives based on the Portfolio Backlog, especially when new requests or changes arise.
Ensure business and functional requirements are accurately translated into system solutions.
Manage and optimize resource planning for Product Managers, Software Engineers, and other team members to ensure successful execution and delivery.
Delivery Management (60%)
Provide timely clarifications, make decisions, and offer direction to avoid delays and misalignment.
Continuously refine the Product Backlog by adding, updating, or removing items based on evolving business needs and customer feedback.
Ensure the product aligns with and supports business strategies and portfolio OKRs.
Analyze, challenge, and translate user stories and requirements into functional specifications.
Serve as the subject matter expert for both business processes and IT solutions.
Engage, communicate with, and influence multiple stakeholders—including IT, third-party vendors, and business teams—throughout the end-to-end delivery process.
Provide support during SIT, UAT, and ORT phases to ensure testing aligns with functional requirements, including weekend support during peak periods.
People Development & Management (10%)
Attract and retain high-quality individual contributors to build strategic and operational capabilities.
Develop team members and high performers through effective learning and development initiatives.
Promote a mindset focused on quality and process excellence.
Manage and optimize resource planning and utilization to maximize output and meet business demands.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in IT or Business Management from an accredited institution.
3–5 years of experience in Product Management and/or Software Engineering, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role within the Insurance IT domain.
Strong domain knowledge in insurance business operations.
Proven experience in process improvement for software development, particularly within the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools and JIRA for presentations and process documentation.
Experience with COBOL programming language is an advantage (e.g., Life Asia platform).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across various levels of management and with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively with peers and stakeholders.
