Product Development Senior Engineer Electronics
**Overview:** Prysmian is seeking a people-oriented and change management champion to support our Industrial & Construction Products business. In your new role you will be reporting directly to the Product Development Director and will be integral to the continued success as well as the future growth of with our customers. Your role will interact with the business and customers in order to understand and solve their unique requirements for their business segments. You will be responsible for start-to-finish product development, requirement gathering, product improvement, support new product introduction into segments of the business and be responsible for environmental reporting activities. **Principal Duties & Responsibilities:** + Responsible for new-product development projects to ensure they meet objectives and bottom line profitability. + Plan, design, and conduct research projects according to established scientific methods, principles, and theories in order to solve problems, improve or generate new products, components, equipment, and processes. + Work with product management to determine overall product offering deficiencies, redundancies and new opportunities. + Be responsible for environmental reporting activities such as REACH, RoHS, Prop65 and product sustainability. + Contribute to material cost reduction programs through new process/material introductions. + Guides the development and application of new products, working closely with manufacturing and the product team. + Work with manufacturing on plant processing issues related to material or product design. + Make customer visits to support sales initiatives, product launches, and determines potential product development opportunities to improve overall business performance. + Provide technical support to sales, marketing, manufacturing and customers. + Coordinate engineering activities with manufacturing to ensure product trials are scheduled and concluded. + Provide technical expertise at industry functions and standards organizations such as UL and CSA and is able to present and lead at these events. + Act as internal liaison between manufacturing and the product teams to identify customer requirements, emerging trends and changing marketplace directions. + Drive product team and manufacturing technical updates to field sales in order to garner new sales opportunities within customer base. + Ensure that training for insides sales, field sales, agents, product team and customers on technical aspects of new products and capabilities/applications is performed. + Travel required 10%. **Key Characteristics:** + Communication - Ability to clearly communicate technical information to various audiences from non-technical to expert. + Business Knowledge-Understanding of cost/benefit analysis including volume requirements for profitability of product designs + High attention to detail + Ability to work with cross-functional groups + Ability to work and collaborate amongst peers and team members with transparency + Aggressive, energetic, quick learner + Strong project management skills, follow-through, results driven + Strong analytical skills, especially in engineering. + PC and systems skills **Qualifications:** + BS degree in Engineering or equivalent Engineering Degree minimum. + Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience working in manufacturing and product development/design engineering. + Wire and Cable experience preferred. + Knowledge of six sigma problem solving fundamentals. **Prysmian is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
