Product Development Engineer

As a Product Development Engineer, you will design and develop new environmentally sealed plastic telecommunication enclosures as a part of the Broadband R&D team.  This is an on-site role in our Apex, NC, facility.

 

How You'll Help Us Connect the World:

Lead R&D product development projects from concept through market introduction, with full accountability for technical execution and project outcomes. Foster a collaborative team environment by supporting other engineers, CAD designers, and technicians, while maintaining strong cross-functional partnerships with operations, product management, and sales. Manage project resources, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful delivery. Define and oversee technical objectives, ensuring alignment with overall project goals. Represent R&D in external engagements to gather customer insights and translate them into actionable product requirements. Provide clear and timely communication of project status, risks, and progress to stakeholders. Collaborate with global R&D teams and build networks with universities and research institutions to leverage external expertise. Promote cross-departmental cooperation to drive innovation and ensure seamless project execution.

 

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

Bachelor’s of Mechanical Engineering with three or more years, or a Master's of Mechanical Engineering with one or more years of hands-on experience in new product development or R&D with a focus on Mechanical design Molded and sheet metal components Engineering-grade plastics  Experience with additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping techniques, including at least one of the following: Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) Stereolithography (SLA) Digital Light Processing (DLP) Proficient in  3D CAD modeling  

 

You Will Excite Us if you have

Experience with Creo and/or SpaceClaim Software Packages Familiarity with telecommunication product design and technologies   Knowledge of project management practices and tools, with experience leading technical project teams
