**R & D Engineer I** **Responsibilities:** + Under the guidance and supervision of the supervisor, engineer designs and develops components for major engineering projects, and at times leads secondary projects. + Coordinate secondary projects and support sub tasks of other projects. + Execute projects with clear objectives and timely deliverables. + Understand the goals and contents of research projects. + Apply FDA/ISO Design Control regulations in product development. + Interconnect with vendors/consultants. + Participate in cross-functional teams on new product development and manufacturing problem-solving efforts. + Contribute to the generation of ideas and potential inventions to be used in new products. + Develop and give presentations dealing with projects, proposals, designs and project status updates. + Hands-on involvement with fabrication and processing. + Maintain good documentation practices for all data forms, protocols, engineering and feasibility reports, and laboratory notebooks. + Develop new techniques and test protocols. + Develop qualification test plans. + Develop detailed engineering specifications; including Bill of Materials, Manufacturing procedures, Sterilization procedures, and Materials Management documents. + Write SOP’s and perform validations on test methods. + Set up, adjust and operate production equipment and analysis instruments such as microscopes, tensile, tester, viscometer, chemical balances, micrometers, calipers, tensile tester and other equipment. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) degree in engineering (Preferred Mechanical Engineer), or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in a related technological field and 3+ years’ experience, or Associates (A.A.) degree in a related technological field and 8+ years of experience, or 10+ years related experience. + Bilingual, Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. + To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Database software; Design software; Development software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. + Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Bilingual English/Spanish
