Google welcomes people with disabilities. Minimum qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent practical experience. + 3 years of experience applying polymers/adhesives in camera product design, including selection. + Experience with polymer/adhesive characterization, validation testing, and failure analysis. + Experience with adhesive dispensing and process considerations. + Experience in 3D/2D CAD tools, such as NX. Preferred qualifications: + 5 years of experience with camera module design, focused on polymer/adhesive selection, application, validation and qualification for key components. + Experience in qualifying new adhesive suppliers, co-developing custom adhesive formulations, or managing supplier quality for critical materials. + Experience applying DFM to adhesive dispensing/curing processes and optimizing manufacturing yields. + Expertise in polymer science, particularly in degradation mechanisms and structure-property relationships. + Expertise in failure analysis for adhesive joints/polymers, including root cause investigation and use of relevant analytical tools. + Understanding of tolerance/Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) impacts. Our computational challenges are so big and unique we can't just buy our hardware, we've got to make it ourselves. Our Platforms Team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Mechanical Engineer you design and evaluate our data center systems, identifying product requirements and contributing to research and project planning. From the chip to chiller, you are responsible for designing and optimizing an architecture that will scale with Google's continued growth. As a Product Design Engineer, specializing in glue related materials, you'll be the subject matter expert guiding the selection, characterization, validation, and application of adhesives and other critical polymers essential for camera module and components design and manufacturing. You will ensure material performance and product reliability by leading experimental validation, managing material databases, performing failure analysis, and driving corrective actions. Your responsibilities include optimizing material integration and adhesive dispensing processes, contributing to material formulation/selection, and collaborating closely with camera module, reliability, and manufacturing partners to implement innovative material solutions and resolve complex challenges. The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world. + Design and execute adhesive experiments, perform data collection and validation, and establish/maintain an adhesive materials database applicable to camera modules and components development. + Conduct in-depth research into the properties of polymer materials such as epoxy resins, adhesives. Lead material selection, performance optimization/validation, and introduce novel materials into camera modules and components designs. + Perform failure analysis related to adhesive applications, identify root causes, and lead the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions. + Lead or participate in adhesive formulation development, material characterization, and testing validation to ensure materials meet specific product application requirements. + Travel as required to support module assembly and dispensing process setup, optimization, and troubleshooting. Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, international partners, and suppliers across different time zones.
