Product Approval Coverage Officer - Vice President
The Firm’s global New Product Approval (NPA) Department seeks a Vice President position with up to 15 years of experience. The NPA Department governs the process around the review and approval of new product initiatives across all firm business lines globally to ensure that firm infrastructure and control groups confirm support and validate that risk is adequately managed. The Department reports on new product activity to business risk management organizations, firm infrastructure groups and firm senior management on a regular basis. In addition, the Department is responsible for routine reporting to enterprise level governance committees and interfaces with regulators as required.

The global NPA Department is located in primarily in New York, with coverage officers and a reporting function in London and Hong Kong

To be successful, the candidate must be able to work independently, manage business relationship and manage global and complex program initiatives concurrently. Strong attention to detail and ability to conduct big data analyses is required. Prior knowledge of the Firm’s operating divisions/business units, core products, and supporting infrastructure areas are essential.

Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:Provide global governance coverage for Wealth Management and Investment Management business units and firm functional areas to respond to and resolve issues relating to the NPA proposals and processPerform quality assurance of Wealth Management and Investment Management new product proposals and functional area due diligence documentation to validate that risk is adequately managed and ensure compliance with the firm’s existing policies and procedures and alignment with strategic goalsProvide monthly update of the NPA program to Wealth Management and Investment Management senior management and monthly update of the NPA program to firm functional areas.Provide ad-hoc NPA reports, risk analysis and data analysis for various stakeholders, including business risk management, firm infrastructure groups and regulatorsDocument business requirements and perform Users Acceptance Testing for various platforms (NPA Platform, Strategic Reporting Platform and Entitlement Platform)Provide user and administration support to all firm business lines and functional areas globally to address questions and resolve issues relating to the New Product Approval process and various platformsLead and manage ad-hoc complex and global programsProject manage key NPA Program initiative by coordinating with the business on the requirements and deliverablesProvide business analysis coverage for NPA IT initiatives by identifying, documenting, and scoping key application requirements to meet business needTranslate high-level business requirements on multiple, complex applications into detailed functional specifications that can be processed by a development teamWork as a liaison between business unit and delivery team in all phases of development from product definition to deployment

Requirements:

Strong knowledge of financial products, especially Wealth Management and Investment ManagementStrong team player with excellent interpersonal and communications skillsStrong organizational skills with ability to effectively multi-task in a high pressure, fast-pasted environment to manage significant case load within short timeframesExcellent quantitative and analytical skills coupled with high attention to detailExcellent project management skillsAbility to deal with difficult situations/individuals gracefully. Ability to influence decisions/ mindsetsStrong problem-solving skills. Ability to identify where focus is needed and bring clarity to business objectives, requirements and prioritiesAbility to write fundamental business requirement documentation in a clear and concise mannerAbility to manage multiple Projects effectively, prioritize deliverables and to understand technical challengesProficiency with Microsoft Office programs, especially PowerPoint and Excel (expert in pivot tables, formula functions and manipulate/sort/filter/format data). Working knowledge of Access is also desirableComfort with Windows environment and ability to quickly learn proprietary technology applicationsAgile Product Owner certification preferredFamiliar with Agile Ceremonies preferred

Baltimore: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 95000 and 165000 per year at the commencement of employment.  However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
