And so much more.​   ​Come break through with us.  Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. **Role Purpose** Direct, coach, and mentor a staff of Product/Process Engineers that serve as owners for released products and processes ensuring functional and cost-effective delivery of products from optimized processes. Lead teams to execute the OCS Division strategy to drive engineering solutions, proactive (preventive) quality and standard processes throughout the Value Stream and Product Life Cycle specific to customer needs. Ensure global alignment of products and processes ensuring lowest cost, reduced complexity and efficient delivery of products and processes to manufacturing and our customers. **Key Responsibilities** + Support Plant and Product Team roadmaps executing value stream strategic intentions to ensure functional and cost-effective delivery of products from optimized processes. + Ensure adaptability and sustainability in the plants for current processes + Deliver operational efficiency with a concentrated focus on the critical few + Integrate process interactions and impact on total product quality + Act as the main POC for the plant with Product and Process Managers when DE support is needed. + Collaborate with managers and supervisors to ensure consistent products and processes across plants and regions. + Strengthen team capabilities in process engineering and utilize the knowledge and data to track plant performance. + Support Product Teams and Plant initiatives to meet value stream expectations for product/process for product/process for product/process: + Clarify, understand, and document customer requirements, product specifications and product applications + Drive technically rigorous root cause analysis based on engineering principles and process/product understanding + Ensure consistent evaluation of process and product changes through structured experimental plans, statistical data analysis, qualification and change approval while balancing speed to market and profitability + Support and execute qualification of cost reduction opportunities + Quickly and effectively respond to customer and commercial requests for rapid product changes + Contribute to the definition and goals impacting the continued improvements of the team and DE + Broaden and deepen product and process understanding within solution sets + Participate on product teams and serve as DE representative aligning teams on DE deliverables + Manage support of Product Teams and engage in the deliverables of the team + Execute on the Product Team roadmap + Drive employee development plans and metrics **Experiences/Education - Required** + Bachelor’s degree in technical area/Mechanical, Electromechanical or Engineering degree + Bilingual English / Spanish + 5 plus years total of development and/or manufacturing engineering experience + 3 plus years of combined managerial and supervisory experience + Project management of moderate scope in complexity, investment, and impact + Certified DMAIC Green Belt + Knowledge or experience in Lean methodologies (Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, Kaizen Events, and Error-proofing) + Knowledge or Experience in PQA methodologies + Knowledge or Experience in New Product Introductions including Change Management + Organizational skills + Ability to effectively deal with certain levels of uncertainty, ambiguity, and change **Experiences/Education - Desired** + Working knowledge of Corning processes (New Product Introduction, Quality Systems, and Change Management) + Working knowledge of Corning Optical Communication products + Field application experience + Certified DMAIC Black Belt, Error Proofing, MEE **Corning Puts YOU First!** We are committed to supporting your health, financial, career development, and life goals as you grow professionally and personally to achieve your highest potential.
