Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
NBC News Digital Video Productions is seeking a journalist to produce, script/develop, shoot, and edit videos for NBC News’ digital app with a focus on its new subscription product. We’re looking for a news junkie who lives across a diverse range of news platforms, can produce content in a variety of formats, and is especially well-suited for vertical video producing.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, creating original videos for NBC News, working with anchors and correspondents across their beats and expertise, and identifying key moments in the news cycle to leverage NBC News journalists to create rich and bespoke subscriber content.
The ideal candidate must be editorially strong, exceptionally organized, and detail-oriented. This candidate must be able to spot opportunities in the news cycle to create distinct, highly compelling, insightful content with NBC News anchors and correspondents for subscribers. This candidate must be an excellent communicator and cross-team collaborator.
This role is based in New York, requires four days in the office, and is represented by the News Guild – NY CWA.
Responsibilities
+ Follow the biggest news stories and latest developments around them for possible vertical video treatment
+ Stay abreast of original reporting and stories being pursued across NBC News and spot opportunities in vertical video around planned or developing coverage
+ Collaborate with anchors, correspondents, producers, and reporters to create compelling video franchises and content
+ Pitch, research, shoot, and edit original video primarily for the NBC News app
+ Experiment with new story and franchise ideas, formats, and visual styles
+ Uphold our news standards
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience
+ 3+ years of experience producing, shooting, and editing video for a news outlet
+ A deep understanding of how to script and produce videos that meet peak editorial standards
+ Experience collaborating with correspondents, reporters, and broadcast talent
+ A strong grasp of analytics and the ability to absorb feedback on content performance and incorporate that into the production approach, where needed
+ Strong news judgment and excellent writing, research, interviewing, and communication skills
+ Experience shooting on professional Sony/Canon camera systems and iPhone
+ Fluency in Adobe Premiere and other post-production tools
+ Ability to pivot quickly to breaking news assignments and adjust priorities as needed
+ Flexibility to respond to breaking news situations outside of regular working hours
+ Continue to experiment and evolve our video franchises, story selection, formats, and visual styles

Additional Requirements:
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 4 days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
