Your New Role...

CNN’s Digital Video Production team creates custom video content for all CNN platforms and select social platforms. We write, produce, shoot and edit digital videos and collaborate across the organization to cover breaking news and other important topics such as international conflicts, climate change, health, business and more. 

This producer is primarily responsible for working with a small team to produce CNN 10, a daily news show for students over 13 and other viewers who want to learn about current events and global issues in 10 minutes or less. They will be writing daily scripts for talent, synthesizing complex news stories for a student audience, as well as identifying visual elements, and producing longer-term packages for future shows.

The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller with a passion for breaking news who is confident operating independently in a fast-paced environment. They should be able to pitch ideas and write scripts that will engage a younger audience both in and out of the classroom. They should be comfortable working with talent and have experience producing video content for digital platforms. Strong editorial judgment is a must.

This position must be in Atlanta. It is currently a Sunday-Thursday hybrid schedule. 

Your Role Accountabilities…

Identify daily news and trending video stories to pitch to the senior producer

Research, write scripts and gather elements for daily news videos

Work with talent to record the daily show and additional elements for social platforms

Edit videos for CNN’s digital audience and social platforms

Publish videos using CNN’s content management system and social publishing tools

Use performance data to continually evolve how we tell stories for the digital audience

Collaborate with colleagues in CNN bureaus around the world

Ensure all published videos adhere to CNN’s editorial and production standards

Pitch & produce ideas for future news events and other news priorities

Qualifications & Experience… 

5+ years of working at a major media outlet, or equivalent experience

Deep understanding of digital video and social media platforms

Experience fact-checking stories and conducting interviews

Passion for breaking news and current events

Skilled with post-production software Adobe Premiere

Comfort filming interviews and broll sequences a plus

Track record of collaborating in a deadline-driven environment

Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills

Must be able to work holidays, weekends, overnights and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require

Foreign language skills a plus
