Downer’s Energy & Utilities business is seeking a Procurement & Supply Chain Manager to lead and optimise procurement and supply chain operations across our growing New Zealand footprint. Based in our Auckland office, this full-time leadership role reports to the Procurement Director ANZ and oversees a large team of up to 30 professionals. This is a newly created position, essential to our strategic growth and transformation in the utilities sector. The successful candidate will drive procurement consolidation, governance, and material optimisation across capital projects, operations, and maintenance workstreams. You'll engage with internal and external stakeholders across the value chain and make a lasting impact on our business performance and client outcomes.

What you’ll do

Lead procurement, contracting, and inventory functions across Downer Energy & Utilities in New Zealand. Implement strategic sourcing, category management, and supply chain optimisation initiatives. Build and coach a high-performing team delivering compliant, cost-effective procurement outcomes. Manage supplier performance, logistics, warehousing, and fleet coordination activities. Drive risk mitigation, governance, and transformation strategies in alignment with Downer standards.

What we’re looking for

15+ years’ experience in procurement and/or supply chain management in utilities, energy, or related Tier 1 environments. Proven success in category management, capital projects, and operational procurement. Strong leadership and people management capability – able to coach and grow high-performing teams. Excellent stakeholder engagement, supplier relationship management, and commercial acumen. Relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, supply chain or related field. CIPS accreditation desirable
