Procurement Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to manage the procurement of complex materials, components, and services essential for our engineering, production, and R&D programs. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong experience in negotiating and managing supplier relationships, as well as ensuring compliance with government regulations.

ResponsibilitiesNegotiate pricing, delivery terms, and long-term agreements with key suppliers to ensure optimal cost, quality, and performance.Manage supplier performance, including conducting regular reviews and initiating corrective actions when needed.Collaborate with internal departments such as engineering, operations, finance, and program management to align procurement activities with project schedules and business priorities.Analyze procurement data to identify cost savings, sourcing efficiencies, and risk mitigation opportunities.Review and approve purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders in accordance with internal controls and regulatory compliance.Resolve procurement issues such as delivery delays, quality concerns, and invoice discrepancies.Maintain and improve procurement records, including supplier qualification data and sourcing history.Train and mentor junior procurement team members and support broader supply chain initiatives.Ensure adherence to FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and other applicable government contracting regulations.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of procurement experience in a defense, aerospace, or electronics manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of purchasing best practices, supply chain principles, and government contracting requirements (FAR/DFARS).Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and ERP/MRP systems.Excellent negotiation, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Proven ability to manage multiple procurement projects in a fast-paced environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in the defense, electronics, and/or manufacturing industry.Expertise in larger ERP systems and electronics manufacturing.U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of government contract work.

This is a Contract position based out of O'Fallon, Missouri

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
