Procurement Specialist
Description We are looking for a dedicated Procurement Specialist to join our team in Hoboken, New Jersey. This is a Contract-to-Permanent position where you will play a key role in managing purchasing activities for our innovative hardware research and product development teams. You will handle procurement for a variety of items, from scientific components to marketing materials, while ensuring efficiency and compliance with internal controls. Responsibilities: • Respond promptly to internal purchase requests and provide updates on the status and lead times of outstanding orders. • Handle direct purchases using online portals and P-cards to streamline procurement processes. • Prepare and issue purchase orders based on quotes, collaborating closely with engineers and accounting teams. • Request and evaluate vendor quotes for custom scientific equipment, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. • Research and document competitive bids, negotiating favorable terms and pricing with suppliers. • Identify alternative suppliers or supply chains to optimize procurement strategies. • Maintain consistent communication with vendors globally to ensure smooth transactions. • Organize and keep detailed records of purchases, invoices, shipping documents, and receipts. • Follow internal purchasing and security protocols to ensure compliance. • Manage multiple deadlines in parallel, proactively tracking and following up on orders. Requirements • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a direct purchasing or buyer role. • Proficiency in corporate procurement processes, including purchase orders and buying procedures. • Strong skills in contract negotiations and familiarity with tools such as Expensify. • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to thorough record-keeping. • Ability to evaluate suppliers and negotiate competitive terms. • Proven capability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. • Knowledge of procurement functions and industry best practices.
