As bp transitions to an integrated energy company, we must adapt to a changing world and maintain competitive performance. bp’s Customers & Products (C&P) business area is setting up a Business and Technology Centre (BTC) in Budapest. This will support the delivery of an enhanced customer experience and drive innovation by building global capabilities at scale, leveraging technology, and developing deep expertise. The BTC will be a core and connected part of our business, bringing together colleagues who report into their respective part of C&P, working together with other functions across bp. We are expanding our team in Budapest and currently looking for a Procurement Manager - 3P to join us.
In this role you will need to maintain a detailed understanding of supply and demand dynamics to be able to allow effective management of the spend category. You will oversee the collation and analysis of supplier data and use this to identify and manage risks and opportunities for business advantage. You will deliver procurement projects, whilst working closely with the procurement Hubs / Sectors to support and enable regional delivery of globally defined category strategies.
This role is a part of our European Procurement team of circa 7 people, supporting our European Business. The role therefore offers an international outlook whilst being based alongside the Budapest team. It is also a People Manager position (with one direct report).
Key Accountabilities:
Contribute to development of 3P strategy, plans and priorities.
Course correct the category's evolving position based on the risk and opportunity using the procurement chessboard.
Subject matter expert for 3P category and maintaining key stakeholder connectivity.
Track market developing and improvement plan to create more value from supply base interactions.
Define and meet performance measures for the category, reflecting business requirements and market opportunities.
Track levels of risk and provide management information on risk assessments and feedback to the procurement Hub Manager via agreed risk reporting mechanism.
Lead the full sourcing process to ensure delivery of business plans and category strategies in collaboration with business partners.
Generate the supplier portfolio, select suppliers and lead the supplier negotiation. Integrate suppliers through the implementation of new contracts, ensuring efficient change management.
Maintain an outward focus on the supply base with pro-active, investigative supply market tracking and receptiveness to innovation and change instigated by suppliers.
Support and drive OD&I activities to promote supply and specification developments in line with business needs and supplier capabilities.
Ensure full compliance with all category, regulatory and BP corporate social, environmental and financial risk and HSE.
Support provision of timely supply market knowledge to the business, relaying current and future impactful events and their potential consequences.
Work collaboratively with the wider GSC and IST shipping to ensure no 3P stock outs at the plants occur.
Support supplier management, including ongoing contract management and control, collation of performance data, etc.
Identify, select, and manage key suppliers for continuous improvement through rigorous cost and value analysis.
Essential Experience & Job Requirements:
Degree Qualified: A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) is required.
Supply Chain Expertise: 12-15 years of Experience in Supply Chain and Business Management.
Supplier Review & Analysis: Demonstrated ability to review supplier capability audits and present findings concisely.
Related technical knowledge pertaining to the sourcing role.
Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
Professional Certification in Procurement (e.g. CIPS) is desirable.
Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
Previous experience within energy/oil & gas sector would be highly advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills combined with a collaborative working style.
Motivated self-starter with attention to detail and excellent relationship building skills.
