Global Supply Management (GSM) is responsible for partnering with AMEX colleagues to optimize their third-party spend. Strategic Sourcing and Category Management is GSM’s face to AMEX colleagues and suppliers. We provide strategic consultation, bringing global value perspective, negotiation and delivery to maximize purchasing power of supplier spend and help free up investment capacity through deeper partnerships with our Business Partners. Strategic Sourcing and Category Management is also responsible for managing our supplier strategy with our business partners, identifying and on-boarding new suppliers, realizing significant cost saves and contract implementation.
Procurement Associate role is based in Brighton, UK and reports into the Director, EMEA Strategic Sourcing & Business Enablement.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Support Category Managers and ensure end to end delivery of regional procurement strategy. Act as the coordination point for local and global engagements related to the relevant categories Develop and grow strong relationships with business partners to gain business unit knowledge, understand goals, and identify issues and potential opportunities (e.g. influence requirements, advise business how to capture the most value from supplier relations); with a customer first mindset and strategy. Act as a point of contact for select business partners Support development of strategic, forward thinking category plans with multi-year value generating sourcing initiatives to enable business success. Develop a category review cycle to refresh strategy and ensure alignment with business partners on a regular basis Bring external insights, innovative ideas, and an enterprise view on market trends, competitive landscape value generation and strategic sourcing opportunities Support Category Managers in building strong partnership with select strategic suppliers and manage them effectively Monitor total spend across the business to leverage global/regional spend where applicable Support EMEA team on special projects related but not limited to Responsible Sourcing initiatives (e.g. net zero and paper sustainability)Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of two - three years of procurement experience (Preferably in Financial Services environment), supplier diversity experience a plus Evidence of strong procurement experience, competitive intelligence and capabilities across marketing categories Procurement professional with operating knowledge of contract law, local/regional/global sourcing strategies, risk management, vendor due diligence, supplier development and complex negotiations skills Ability to manage day to day business priorities along with long term strategic deliverables Strong project management skills and financial experience including development of CBAs and financial models Passion for using analytics to develop insights and recommendations, solve business challenges, improve the customer experience, and drive bottom line results Strong communication and influencing skills with evidence of consistently delivering cost savings and value-add opportunities Ability to proactively drive internal stakeholder and external supplier relationships; ability to work with colleagues and suppliers at all levels Excellent people skills, including relationship management, communication, negotiation, influencing, planning, presentation and motivation Self - starter, positive attitude, flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity and rapid change University degree or CIPS qualification (or studying towards the qualification) is a plus.
