Responsibilities

PURPOSE:  To assure that all containers and lids are being manufactured and packaged according to Berry Global Quality standards and guidelines in a safe and efficient manner by operating, trouble shooting, documenting and communicating molding conditions.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set up machines for operation, change material and color to meet production schedulesMake appropriate adjustments to machines to affect efficient production levels and document appropriately; respond to QA Techs and understands JDE priorities. Start up and troubleshooting of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.Review production schedules and ensure machines are running production to meet customer demands in JDE. Process and set up all new molds.Maintain cycle times and minimize down time. Respond to alarms and/or requests for assistance to correct machine malfunctions and/or Packer/Handler problems.Use proper Lockout/tagout proceduresCoordinate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments concerning machine operations and malfunctionsMaintain foil supply on hot stamp equipment. Maintain steady uninterrupted supply of colorant and material to the machines.Make resin changes with the correct resin and to the correct machines.Inspect scrap and minimize scrap at each machineClean all Molds on all IML machines safely and accuratelyResponsible for changing IML labels, foil, grips and wire on each machineAssure all paperwork is completely filled out on a daily basis; i.e. daily process records, machine cleaning, etc.Miscellaneous duties as assignedResponsible for ensuring safety, quality and housekeeping standards are maintained in the production department.Documenting any down time on injections sheets, which includes, color changes, etc. Coordinate with the Shift Supervisor and the team leaders the supplies needed for each production run, including returning inventory of unused supplies.Be knowledgeable of inventory procedures, following product guidelinesKnow and conduct quick start up and shut down emergency procedures.Staff are informed and held accountable for their food safety and regulatory responsibilities;Staff are positively encouraged and required to notify management of actual or potential food safety issues; andStaff are empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work.Clean under each machine, each shift and properly Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL, SKILL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED required Technical understanding of injection-molding processes and proceduresBend and lift a minimum of 50 pounds safely and repeatedlyMaintain efficient production levels in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to identify alpha/numeric product codesCommunicate professionally and effectively with all levels of personnelWilling to work in a hands-on environment.Must be able to work assigned shift including over time when necessaryOperate successfully independently and in a team environment

KEY BEHAVIORAL TRAITS FOR SUCCESS - Must exercise some independent judgment and initiative in ensuring proper completion of assigned tasks. Assumes responsibility for doing assigned work and for meeting deadlines.  Accepts supervisory instruction and direction and strives to meet the goals and objectives of same.

 Night shift:  6:45pm - 7am working a 2-2-3 schedule with every other weekend off
