PFG is the leading manufacturer of float glass in Southern Africa, as well as laminated glass and mirrors. The company produces 260 000 tons of float glass products per annum, supplying into both domestic and international building and automotive industries.

 

Main job purpose: 

Support & assist the Process Manager in leading and effectively managing the Cold End operation to ensure the constant achievement of world class manufacturing standards through the effective optimisation of human resources, financial resources, equipment and systems and ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation. 

 

Main objective:

Support & assist the Process Manager with the day to day productivity of the Cold End team by driving the achievement of targets in line with business objectives. Continuously drive to optimise the cold end operation to achieve optimal outputs whilst reducing costs in line with world class manufacturing standards.  Enforce safety measures and compliance to the OSH Act by identifying hazards, potential risks and training employees in accordance with the current standard operating procedures, work instructions and risk assessment in order to ensure a safe working environment. Ensure compliance to ISO standards through proper document control.   Ensure quality products are in line with customer specifications. Identify any non conformance within the cold end operation through monitoring and inspection.  To build capacity by identify training needs, as well as coach and assess employees at all levels to obtain full competencies. Execute the planned training schedules. Drive world class manufacturing standards through VPM (Visual Performance Management), 5s (Cleanliness of working environment) Team work and FI (Focus Improvement) to be in line with international standards. Maintain and ensure communication to employees through the operations communication systems to ensure plant stability. 

 

Qualifications: 

National Diploma (Science, Engineering or Operations Management)

 

Knowledge: 

Knowledge of relevant legislation (BCEA, LRA and OSH Act)

Knowledge of Human Resources Policies & Procedures

People Management

Working knowledge of SAP

Experience:
