This position can be located in the Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lakewood, Colorado or Houston, TX offices. As part of the Corporate EHS Audit team, the Process Safety Engineer is responsible for supporting the Corporate Audit requirements and supporting initiatives to develop and improve the Corporate process safety management and Risk Management programs.   This includes overseeing, conducting and reviewing compliance audits, reviewing studies and analyses performed by Business Units in support of the program, and providing compliance advice to Business Unit personnel.

 

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

Implement process safety audit programs. Track and follow up on process safety management (PSM) and risk management program (RMP) audit finding completions.Assist in the development and implementation of the process safety management (PSM) and risk management program (RMP) Corporate requirements.Develop working knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) and codes and standards referenced in process safety management standards.Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving issues related to PSM and RMP with a focus on mechanical integrity, management of change (MOC), pre-startup safety review (PSSR), incident management, and training programs, including deconstruction of codes and standards from engineering and legal vernacular to words and terms that someone without professional training in the subject area can understand and act upon.Support and further develop existing automated reporting systems for PSM/RMP.Maintain current knowledge of codes and standards related to gas processing facilities and petroleum and chemical terminals.Assist in the development and enhancement of compliance policies and procedures.Assist in the development for training new assigned personnel on the use of maintenance and PSM/RMP compliance systems.Keep overall maintenance and compliance system assignments and requirements current.Proactively plan, organize and oversee assigned work programs.Other daily, weekly, and monthly duties, and special projects, as assigned.Deal with a wide variety of people and personalities with tact, courtesy and professionalism across multiple business units, including, but not limited to: other employees, various levels of management, vendors and customers.Articulate and present ideas, proposals and results to upper management.Successfully resolve potential conflicts and foster a win-win atmosphere with internal and external customers.Write effectively, and understand verbal and written communications, including, but not limited to, email.Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully.Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of job performance.Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.Promote the Company’s ethical and EHS philosophy and culture.Travel is required and anticipated to be 25-35% annually, across a broad geographic region, and serving each of KM’s business units.Carry a cell phone and respond during working hours, and as required during non-working hours.Work non-traditional hours, as needed.", "employmentType" : "Full Time", "educationRequirements" : "Bachelors Degree", "experienceRequirements" : "3 - 5 Years", "industry" : [ ], "jobLocation" : [ { "@type" : "Place", "name" : "CO-DENVER", "address" : { "@type" : "PostalAddress", "addressLocality" : "DENVER", "addressRegion" : "CO", "postalCode" : "80221", "addressCountry" : "USA" } } ], "responsibilities" : "

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, from an accredited academic institution.Active/current Professional Engineer registration and a related degree will be considered in lieu of an Engineering degree

 

EXPERIENCE/SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:

In addition to the degree requirement (or degree substitute), minimum of 3 years direct and active work experience in oil industry engineering position is necessary.Knowledge and understanding of process safety principles and their application in an operating facility.Knowledge reading and interpreting P&IDs, Cause and Effect diagrams, and other diagramsExperience with industry codes and standards for tanks, pressure vessels, piping, and pressure relief devices.Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations.Experience interacting with employees and various levels of management.

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.

 

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills are necessary.Advanced proficiency level with Microsoft applications and database software, specifically including, and not limited to: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and PHA-Pro.Experience in the utilization of a computerize maintenance management system.Experience in modeling of chemical releases and fires a plus.Must be able to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict and sometimes simultaneous deadlines.Must be a team player who is able to work within a group, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, exhibit excellent follow-through, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.Ability to successfully perform the required and expected duties with minimal direct supervision.Must be able to work autonomously as situation dictates.Must be customer-service oriented, and have good organizational and time management skills.Possess and consistently demonstrate well-developed organizational skills, including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.Ability to identify, and regularly meet, expectations in an employee/employer relationship.Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is considered a plus.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Travel across a broad geographic region (multiple states) is required. Travel by automobile or commercial aircraft is required for meetings at other corporate offices and operations facilities. Travel anticipated is 25-35%This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (M-W in office, Th and Fri potential work from home days when travel is not required).Carry a company-provided cell phone and respond during working hours, and as required during non-working hours.

 

The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

 

Pay range: $94,400-$136,900 per year. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
