Process Safety Engineer
BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION:
We seek a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer to join our team in the oil and gas industry. The Process Safety Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain safety management systems and processes to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards. This role requires a proactive approach to risk assessment, hazard identification, and continuous improvement in operational safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct Process Hazard Analysis using methodologies like HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA to identify and mitigate risks associated with operational processes.
Collaborate with design, engineering, and operations teams to incorporate safety systems such as fire protection, emergency shutdown, gas detection, and pressure relief systems in new and existing facilities.
Develop and implement risk assessment tools to evaluate operational hazards, including quantitative risk assessments (QRA), and recommend control measures.
Incident Investigation: Lead or support investigations of process-related incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Compliance and Regulatory Standards: Ensure adherence to OSHA PSM standards and other relevant industry regulations. Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations affecting process safety.
Promote a strong safety culture through training, workshops, and communication with all levels of the organization. Conduct safety training for employees on topics related to process safety.
Conduct periodic safety audits, assessments, and performance evaluations. Identify gaps in safety processes and recommend improvements.
Maintain accurate records of safety processes, incident investigations, and audits. Prepare reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
Monitor industry best practices and technological advancements in process safety. Recommend and implement enhancements to safety management systems.
Must work onsite daily in Goleta, CA.


Compensation: $70/hr to $110/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k)-retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.
