POSITION PURPOSE

As a Process Engineering Intern in our Operations Department, you’ll gain hands-on experience in an assembly manufacturing environment, supporting project-based initiatives focused on job analysis, technical process documentation, and the development of standardized work instructions. The ITW GSE Division is an industry leading manufacturer of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to the aviation industry.
Core customers are Airports and Airlines in all countries around the World.
Core products are Power Supply Units for aircraft parked on the ground.

Organizationally ITW GSE is part of the Specialty Products Segment of Illinois Tool Works (ITW).
NATURE AND SCOPE
Conduct job analysis by observing and documenting current assembly processes and workflows.
Develop and update standardized work instructions, technical drawings, and visual aids to support consistent and efficient operations.
Create or revise technical documentation including exploded views, part diagrams, and assembly sequences.
Collaborate with production staff, engineers, and managers to gather input and validate process documentation.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing best practices.
Support time studies, ergonomic assessments, and layout optimization projects as needed.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of training materials for new and existing employees.
Participate in team meetings and present findings or recommendations to stakeholders.
QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS
Ideal Experience
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.Strong interest in operations, lean manufacturing, and process improvement.Experience or coursework in technical drawing or CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with process mapping tools is a plus.Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.WHAT YOU WILL GAIN
