Job Title: Process Engineer Job Description
The Process Engineer will develop and implement new machining processes and program CNC lathes for programs entering the plant. The role involves optimizing CNC programs for multi-axis Swiss-style lathes, interpreting complex blueprints and technical drawings, and supporting the production team to ensure quality standards and continuous process improvements. The position requires a hands-on approach in identifying problems and efficiencies, selecting machines and tools, and mentoring a team of manufacturing engineers.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and optimize CNC programs for Swiss-type lathes using CAD/CAM software.
+ Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine optimal machining strategies.
+ Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work holding devices for efficient machining.
+ Perform article inspections and work closely with the quality team to verify part conformance.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve programming and machining issues to minimize downtime.
+ Provide technical support and guidance to lead personnel, setup personnel, and machine operators.
+ Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
+ Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, setup sheets, and process documentation.
+ Promote a safety-conscious work environment and adhere to all safety regulations.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of experience as a Manufacturing/Process Engineer in a production environment.
+ 5+ years of experience in medical device, aerospace, or high-tolerance precision machining industries.
+ 3+ years of experience programming CNC lathes, including proficiency in G+M code and CAD/CAM software.
+ Experience managing multiple projects and machines, equipment selection, and 3D CAD.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Engineering degree or certificate in CNC machining or manufacturing technology.
+ Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as lean manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen.
+ Experience selecting equipment for manufacturing.
+ Prior job shop experience, especially in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
Work Environment
The Process Engineer will work with a team of four other engineers, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The typical work hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with some flexibility for earlier start times. The role offers 10 days of PTO and 6 standard holidays, with access to Udemy after six months. The work environment is dynamic with a focus on precision components for industries such as Aerospace, Medical, and Automotive, allowing for operations growth and investment in new technology.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Benton Harbor, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $60.10/hr.
