The Process Engineer will play a critical role in optimizing food production and distribution processes to ensure safe, efficient, and scalable operations. While the primary focus will be on process design and improvement, this role also offers exposure to cross-functional projects, providing opportunities to contribute to broader operational initiatives and foster professional growth.
Reporting to Strategic Operations, the Process Engineer will collaborate closely with Production, FSQA, Culinary, and Distribution teams to identify inefficiencies, standardize workflows, and support the rollout of improved processes, tools, and training across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization: Analyze, improve, and standardize workflows to increase efficiency, throughput, and product quality across production and distribution. Cost & Waste Reduction: Identify opportunities to reduce waste, minimize downtime, and optimize resource utilization. Documentation & SOP Development: Design and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), particularly for batch production, packaging, and process-critical workflows. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with FSQA, Culinary, and Operations to ensure all process changes meet food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. New Product & Project Support: Prepare production teams for new product launches, process trials, and operational readiness for scale. Capital & Improvement Projects: Lead or support projects such as facility layout improvements, equipment upgrades, and process automation. Training & Adoption: Develop training tools, process documentation, and workshops to drive consistency and best practices across teams and shifts. Data & Metrics Tracking: Monitor and report KPIs (e.g., yield, waste, cycle time) using Excel, Power BI, and internal reporting systems. Change & Systems Support: Assist in project coordination, change management, and scoping system enhancements to enable operational excellence.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, or related field). 1–3 years in food manufacturing, production, or operations/process improvement. Knowledge of food production systems, sanitary design principles, and industry equipment. Familiarity with regulatory and food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, USDA). Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement frameworks. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, Smartsheet, or other collaboration tools a plus. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex systems into scalable solutions. Experience supporting cross-functional projects, process rollouts, or training initiatives is highly valued. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—able to influence at all levels of the organization. Bilingual English/Spanish. Ability to travel as required for project support.Salary Range: $70,000 - $83,000
