Job Title: Process & Commissioning Engineer
Location: Venlo, Netherlands (preferred) or Baden, Switzerland
Occasional travel for short-term site commissioning assignments.
Purpose of Role:
As part of our growth strategy at Weir, we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Process & Commissioning Engineer with a background in process engineering or a related discipline to support the testing, development and commissioning of vertical stirred mills. The role focuses primarily on test work — planning, execution, data analysis, and reporting — while also supporting occasional site-based commissioning activities.
This is a hands-on role requiring a strong understanding of mineral processing and grinding circuits, with emphasis on experimental work, equipment handling, and performance evaluation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with mill test rigs, coordinating test resources, and contributing to continuous improvement of equipment and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Test Planning & Coordination: Develop detailed test plans and schedules for vertical stirred mills. Coordinate with the lab team to ensure test resources, materials, and equipment are in place.Test Execution: Jointly with an existing Team, perform hands-on test work using mills, tanks, pumps, and instrumentation. Ensure consistent procedures and accurate sampling during test campaigns. Guide and train the Team in terms of Process Engineering principles.Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, process, and analyze test data to assess mill performance and process behavior. Use results to assist design improvements and operational recommendations.Technical Reporting: Compile comprehensive test reports summarizing findings, observations, and process insights. Present results to internal stakeholders.Occasional Site Commissioning: Participate in the commissioning of vertical stirred mills and associated circuits at customer sites as needed. Support process ramp-up and performance validation.Inventory Management: Assist in tracking and management of test materials, grinding media, spare parts, and instrumentation at the test center.Process Optimization: Contribute to test-based development of process improvements, focusing on energy efficiency, wear resistance, and operational flexibility.Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.Strong foundation in mineral processing and comminution systems, particularly stirred mills.Proven experience in test work, including setup, execution, and data analysis.Solid mechanical aptitude and familiarity with pumps, tanks, and grinding equipment.Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.Able to work hands-on with test equipment in a lab or pilot plant environment.Founded in 1871, Weir is a world leading engineering business with a purpose to make mining operations smarter, more efficient and sustainable.
