Process Design Manager
A Principal Engineer position, that would provide technical support for projects and manufacturing operations. This position is for someone with expertise in evaporator, Dryer and wet process technology in the region. Expertise in equipment design and troubleshooting of equipment is mandatory. Project execution knowledge is desired. **Responsibilities** + Manage and coordinate the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. + Ensure New product trial and commercial run completed on time, A + ct as a liaison between product development, manufacturing, and project management and pilot plant teams. + Participate in Technical Review Process for New product introduction Support regional projects in Asian & European sites as a technical lead. + Support plant trials and first lot to stock batches of new and reformulated products by providing process flow diagrams, manufacturing direction reviews, and on-site troubleshooting. + Independently performs analysis and feasibility studies related to project alternatives and reviews proposed manufacturing scenarios for new products early to determine manufacturability, cost, and schedule issues. + Provide technical expertise through problem solving/troubleshooting and support to domestic and contract manufacturing operations. + Anticipates future directions and challenges. + Benchmarks internally and externally, recognizes changes in the current environment and identifies indicators of future problems and opportunities and then prepares for such eventualities. + Identify, review, and assess process technology that could reduce cost, improve efficiency, improve product quality, or gain/protect intellectual property. + Understand manufacturing challenges associated with the plant, de bottleneck processes to provide OEE improvements. + Provide effective communication through verbal and written reports, timely updates, and knowledge sharing. + Supports multiple, often concurrent, projects and meets deadlines. + Responsible for achieving the project's targets in support of business objectives. + Resolves problems in manufacturing requiring fast, astute decisions with rapid implementation by utilizing technical training and experience. + Follows through on project goals and serves as a functional expert with expertise in spray drying and other manufacturing processes. + Lead the design and completion of testing to evaluate new technologies, processing + equipment changes, cost reduction initiatives, or manufacturing capacity strategies. + Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing leadership to ensure coordinated efforts deliver process systems that meet manufacturing product mix requirements, quality objectives, and enable standardization of processes where applicable. **Requirements** + A technical background involving nutritional and food manufacturing processes with emphasis in spray drying, evaporation + Adaptable to work on a variety of projects from engineering design to product research and development. + Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on cross functional teams. Ability to analyze test results and process information to determine solutions to production and quality issues. + Preferred computer skills include MS Office applications, AutoCAD, process modeling/simulation programs, OSI PI Process book, Qualtrend, LIMS, and QDMS. Familiarity with food and infant formula regulations and standards for quality desired. + A degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Food/Dairy, Chemical or Mechanical engineering. + Must have commissioned and participated in troubleshooting process equipment in his career. + Must have strong engineering process knowledge and be well organized, as well as have excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. + Strong business and customer focus + Good engineering problem solving skills + Must be able to accomplish results by working effectively with others and be willing and able to work in plant areas (i.e. walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders, move through close spaces) to understand and monitor the process. + General knowledge of codes, relevant standards and materials related to industrial equipment. + Must be able to respond quickly to changing requirements. + Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in Process Equipment, Food/Pharmaceutical or Consumer Products industry.
