Process Controls Project Engineer
Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties:

Plant champion for driving the vision to set guidelines and evaluate any controls technology coming into the facility Develop long range plan for managing existing obsolete assets and upgrades as plant priorities change with new products and needs of the Company Interacts with R&D, HQ and other external resources to work collaboratively on project ideation Designs, develops, and executes installation along with start-up of controls systems for small capital projects Interacts with both maintenance and production to define needs to facilitate necessary repairs Supports maintenance and production troubleshooting controls issues Work with and lead maintenance supervisors and electricians on training Promotes safety awareness, compliance and improvements Develops and implements projects to meet Davenport Plant goals for improved food & employee safety, cost reductions, method improvements and plant needs Directs efforts of external engineering resources engaged to develop plans and specifications for approved projects Reviews drawings and specifications prepared by external resources Establishes project schedules and coordinate installation and commercialization work with internal departments Maintains effective communication of project status to senior leadership, operations, maintenance and other appropriate parties.  Lead necessary project meetings Manages financial aspects of project, tracking all commitments and expenditures Prepares purchase orders, reviews and approves invoices, and prepares and maintains spending forecast Learn and understand all ethical and legal compliance responsibilities of the position; raise questions and concerns with the appropriate company personnel if compliance and ethical issues arise Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

Required equivalent 4 years of experience in Engineering, Controls, and/or Automation Development. Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred, preferably within Electrical, Controls and/or Automation Engineering. Prior experience working in a Union environment, and with the USDA preferred. A minimum of 4 years of experience in PLC controls in a manufacturing plant required A minimum of 4 years of experience managing Servo controls required A minimum of 2 years of experience managing capital projects required Proficiency in PLC programming, particularly using ladder logic.

Other Requirements:

Ensure all safety and quality guidelines are followed. Maintain legible, neat and accurate records and reports. Must have leadership abilities, positive attitude, strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must understand the plant document control procedure. Must have an understating of the plant record control procedure. Must be able to demonstrate planning/organizational skills and behavior which will contribute to the overall team effectiveness. Must be able to work well within a team environment as well as work effectively autonomously. Capable of learning intermediate Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Word, and Metrics. Strong planning/organizational skills and communication skills. Understanding of requirements and importance of documentation. Can understand and write WIs, SOPs, OPLs. General understanding of CCP / CP Ability to travel up to 10% possible

New Hire Base Salary Range:

$88,000.00 – $110,000.00

Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
