Additionally, you will ensure the safe, efficient, productive, and environmentally sound manufacture of active ingredients or intermediates. The primary responsibilities of this role, Process Control Engineer, are to: + Contribute to final decisions and recommendations to protect the site’s and Bayer’s freedom to operate, improve efficiency and increase yields; + Work on complex engineering problems that have a moderate value to the site and business; + Work across plants within the site to deploy standardized and maintainable solutions for the site; + Research and implement best practices and introduce new technology solutions to improve efficiency and performance at the plant and site level; Serve as site resource on ISA (Instrumentation Society of America), IEC (International Electromechanical Commission), and Bayer process control and cybersecurity standards and train others on their application; + Lead investigations into process safety or production-related control system failures; + Ensure the site follows process control, Safety Instrumented Systems and cybersecurity strategies per IEC & ISA guidelines and Bayer standards; + Provide technical assistance in developing and maintaining process control and operating procedures, specifications, and auditing procedures to optimize overall effectiveness as it relates to industry recommended practices and OSHA PSM (Process Safety Metrics) Guidelines; + Provide technical mentoring to Process Control Technicians and Engineers, and Unit Production and Electrical Engineers on key process control policies, practices, and procedures; + Technically evaluates, approves, and executes or reassigns Process Control Change Requests; + Provide technical support for new project installation or modifications to existing systems as needed; + Serve as a process control resource for HAZOP and other Process Hazard Analyses techniques; supports timely resolution of identified process safety risks; + Provide operational support for the Emerson DeltaV systems in the plant as needed; including on-call support for coverage on nights and weekends; + Champion standardized alarm management techniques throughout the plant and site effective and use of Alarm Metrics and the Bayer Alarm Philosophy; + Assist in managing the long-term reliability efforts for the plant process control systems, including reliability tracking through AMS (Asset Management System)/Meridium as well as control system hardware and I/O reliability; + Participate in technical exchanges (internal or external); + Function as the subject matter resource to advise vendors and management about product specifications and plant capabilities; + Optimize production processes and logistics about safety, environment, cost, quality, and regulatory requirements; + Provide the necessary technical support for troubleshooting and resolving problems with Production Unit processes and equipment. Perform Risk Assessments and resolution of risk analysis. **WHO YOU ARE** Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required Qualifications: + B.S. Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; + Engineering experience in a plant operation function; + Experience with Emerson DeltaV and AMS is required, Emerson Process Control Implementation I Course or Equivalent; + Strong communications skills, both oral and written; + Strong decision making and problem-solving skills; + Computer expertise in Windows based software; + Ability to interact with multi-functional teams; + Strong safety ethic and mindset; + Proficient computer skills to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint, SAP experience helpful; + High level of ownership and is able quickly adapt to changing priorities; + Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures immediately and communicate status to engineers and production; + Ability to support and prioritize many diverse activities simultaneously while meeting schedule commitments; + Strong planning, organizational skills along with good oral and written communication skills; + Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a diverse wide customer base; + Flexibility to support business requirement of on-call support and / or weekend coverage. Preferred Qualifications: + 4+ years or an equivalent combination of education and experience; + Knowledge of SAP, Siemens Simatic IT, Virtualization, Aspen Tech IP21; + Knowledge of industrial networking; + Experience with instrumentation and low voltage electrical systems. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
