NaphCare is hiring a Medical Scheduler to join our team of medical professionals at our Corporate Headquarters office in Birmingham, AL.
As a Correctional Medical Scheduler, you will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating healthcare appointments for the inmates held in Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP). This position requires strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet daily deadlines.
ResponsibilitiesThe Medical Scheduler will schedule appointments and maintain the medical records for all BOP medical appointments on and off-site. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:
Scheduling various medical appointments, including on-site clinic visits and off-site specialist appointments, as recommended by medical staffMaintaining accurate and confidential medical records, including entering consultation requests into the system and managing patient informationArranging transportation for inmates to and from appointments, ensuring timely and secure transfersAssist with reviewing medical records and authorization scenarios Assist with maintaining a calendar and utilize technology to maximize efficiencies of the scheduling processEffectively communicating with healthcare staff, patients, and other relevant parties regarding appointments, scheduling changes, and other medical informationAdhering to all relevant security protocols, confidentiality standards, and HIPAA regulations QualificationsExperience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate.Prior training in a medical office setting scheduling medical appointments and working with medical records preferred A working knowledge of medical terminology and various types of medical specialtiesExperience utilizing computer systems for scheduling, data entry, and report generation, often handling large volumes of data
Proficiency in Microsoft SuiteMust possess strong written communication and verbal skills, adaptable to environments where conditions may not be pristine, and manage and maintain in stressful situationsMust have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirementsMust pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
