**Job Description:**
This position is accountable for the provision of patient care and other duties as permitted by licensure and defined within Credentialing and Privileging documentation (hospital), Credentialing and Scope of Practice (Medical Group), Collaboration Agreement and/or other similar documentation as appropriate.
**Essential** **Functions**
Clinical Practice:
+ Management of critically ill and premature infants in the NICU with complex health issues including resuscitation, assessment, diagnosis, medication management, ventilation management, treatment, and timely documentation. Daily rounding with the interdisciplinary medical team.
+ Ordering and performing medical tests and procedures specific to the NICU population.
+ Consultation and coordination with other pediatric healthcare providers.
+ Educating and supporting parents, guardians, APP students, and staff in the care of NICU patients.
+ Continual participation in weekly learning opportunities and developing foroptimal NICU patient care and outcomes
Education:
+ Conductand/orcoordinateeducationtoincreasetheknowledgeofpatients,patientfamily,andothers.Providingappropriateinstructionbasedonpatientneedstosupportthecontinuumofcare.
+ Trainotherstaffinareasofclinicalexpertise.Providesteachingofstudentsasappropriatetoincreasetheirclinicalknowledgeandensuresafepatientcare.
+ Stayabreastofcurrenttrendsinhealthcarepracticeandparticipateincontinuingmedicaleducationtoensureoptimalclinicalknowledgeandeffectivepatientcareskill.
Consultation/Collaboration:
+ Coordinatesandcollaboratespatientcareeffortswithothercareproviders.
+ Communicatesclinicalinformationtimely,accurately,thoroughly,andappropriatelytootherprovidersofpatientcare.
+ May collaborate with other care providers in the effective sharing of practice expertise.
Research:
+ Mayparticipateinresearchandutilizeevidence-basedpracticetopromotequalitypatientcare,protocoldevelopment,careprocessmodeldevelopment,andbestpracticestandardsforassignedpatientpopulation.
+ Supportsprofessionaldevelopmentthroughresearchprocesses.

**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
+ Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
OR
+ Current state license as a Physician Assistant
+ Current certification from a recognized certifying organization such as the National Commission of Physician Assistants.
AND
+ Certification in Neonatology.
+ Applicable experience as defined by position leadership.
AND
+ Eligible for State Controlled Substance License.
+ Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
+ BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
+ Other certification as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP).
+ Current certification from a recognized certifying organization such as the NCCPA for physician assistants or the ANCC or AANP for nurse practitioners.
**Preferred** **Qualifications**
+ Masters degree or higher.

+ Manualdexterityofhandsandfingerstomanipulatecomplexanddelicateequipmentwithprecisionandaccuracy.Thisincludesfrequentcomputeruseandtypingfordocumentingpatientcare,accessingneededinformation,medicationpreparation,etc.
+ Expectedtoliftandutilizefullrangeofmovementtotransferpatients.Willalsobendtoretrieve,lift,andcarrysuppliesandequipment.Typicallyincludesitemsofvaryingweights,uptoandincludingheavyitems.
+ Needtowalkandassistwithtransporting/ambulatingpatientsandobtaininganddistributingsuppliesandequipment.Thisincludespushing/pullinggurneysandportableequipment,includingheavyitems.Oftenrequiredtonavigatecrowdedandbusyrooms(fullofequipment,powercordsonthefloor,etc.).
