Job Description The Privacy Legal and Policy Manager will lead our organization-wide privacy initiatives and ensure the organization’s adherence to evolving data protection laws and standards. This role is instrumental in developing policies and executing strategies relating to privacy and data protection that align with our business goals, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.The Privacy Legal and Policy Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of privacy law and policy within Globe Telecom. This includes overseeing the design and implementation of data protection frameworks, advising on legal risks related to data privacy, and interfacing with internal and external/regulatory stakeholders.
The role will also include developing company-wide policies, procedures, and guidelines relating to privacy and data protection, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contractual provisions involving information security and data privacy, and ensuring a privacy-by-design / privacy-by-default approach in our products and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive privacy and data protection policies and frameworks in line with relevant privacy laws and regulations.
Advise leadership and business units on legal risks and responsibilities pertaining to personal data.
Lead contract-drafting, review, and negotiations particularly in relation to information security and data privacy, data processing and data sharing.
Oversee case management and provide guidance in addressing data privacy complaints and data subject requests.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments in privacy and data protection and assess their impact on the business.
Foster a culture of privacy throughout the organization.
Represent the company before regulatory bodies including the National Privacy Commission and the Department of Information and Communications Technology as well as relevant industry groups.
Perform all other duties and tasks that will promote information security and data privacy and uphold the rights of data subjects.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: 8–10 years of legal and policy experience with a significant focus on privacy, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of global privacy laws, regulations, and frameworks.
Technical Acumen: Familiarity with privacy-enhancing technologies, anonymization/pseudonymization, and privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default principles.
Certifications/Licenses
Mandatory License: Lawyer in good standing with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines
Preferred Certifications:
IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional – Europe (CIPP/E)
IAPP Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM)
IAPP Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT)
