About the Opportunity:This role is part of the Life Fitness Electrical Engineering team and is responsible for designing and laying out printed circuit boards (PCBs) for internally developed hardware. In addition to PCB layout, this individual will serve as the librarian for our electrical EDA tools, managing schematic symbols, footprints, and related design assets.
 This is a hybrid role, based out of our Nieto-Jones Performance Center in Schaumburg, IL. Team members work remotely on Mondays and Fridays, with in-office collaboration days Tuesday through Thursday.
 As a Printed Circuit Board Designer, you will:Perform layout of printed circuit boards for various applications, including motor control, generator control, system interface, and touchscreen processorsInterface with design engineers to define and execute layout requirements and deliver high-quality, manufacturable designsCreate and manage all library parts in Altium DesignerIntegrate Altium projects with Teamcenter (TC) for data management and version controlGenerate final manufacturing packages including BOMs, Gerbers, and fabrication/assembly drawingsProvide layout feedback to minimize EMC risk and improve design performanceDefine and refine processes between schematic and layout teams to ensure alignment and efficiencyCollaborate with mechanical engineers to meet form, fit, and function requirements for PCB assembliesAct as the liaison between the electrical engineering team and supply chain stakeholders including procurement and supplier qualitySupport Altium and Teamcenter installations and upgrades as needed
 What Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is looking for in our Printed Circuit Board Designer:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 5+ years of relevant experience3+ years of hands-on PCB layout experience across digital, analog, and power electronicsProficiency in Altium DesignerStrong ability to interpret and work from electrical schematicsDemonstrated experience with standard PCB materials, multilayer stack-ups, and fabrication processesUnderstanding of high-speed signal layout and impedance control techniques (field solver or similar tools)Experience with matched pair routing for memory or high-speed communication systemsFamiliarity with IPC standards and manufacturing requirementsStrong adaptability and willingness to learn new tools and technologiesExperience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced product development environmentWhy Life Fitness / Hammer Strength?At Life Fitness, we believe in more than just making world-class fitness equipment—we believe in making a difference. At Life Fitness / Hammer Strength, we believe in taking care of our team with a comprehensive total rewards package that includes competitive pay and a range of valuable benefits. The salary range for this position, intended for U.S. applicants, is $78,800 - $114,200 annually.The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities. The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Life Fitness Schaumburg and the actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.
