Element has an opportunity for a Principal Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team in Hopkinton, MA. As a member of the operations team, the Principal Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. Based out of our Element Hopkinton testing facility, the senior level position of Principal Technician will be responsible for oversight and test execution of multiple test programs which includes programming Maccor cyclers, instrumenting test setups, and delivering customer battery testing projects by providing customers with test data.
Responsibilities Conduct a variety of tests on Lithium-Ion Battery CellsPerform cell inspections and preliminary electrical and mechanical measurements (ACR, OCV, etc.)Prepare cells for testing, including fixture setup and sensor installationInstall cells in environmental chambers and connect them to test systems (e.g., Maccor)Troubleshoot and resolve testing issuesLead and execute test plans supplied by customersLearn and utilize battery test programming software (e.g., Maccor Build Test)Maintain detailed test records in electronic and/or physical formatsAdhere to all safety protocols for battery handling and disposalGenerate test reports plot, chart, and data manipulation Skills / Qualifications Maccor or related cycler experience highly preferredAble to manage testing projects as they enter lab from start to finish including setup, planning, execution, delivery, and customer managementStrong understanding of AC/DC electrical principlesProficiency in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issuesBasic computer skills (MS Office Suite, Outlook)Troubleshooting and problem-solving cycling testsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Demonstrated communication skills requiredAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
