Responsibilities: * Leads the development, modification, and testing of software units per corporate processes * Establishes and enforces strong software engineering practices across teams * Identifies and addresses software process gaps with peers * Provides technical guidance to major programs and engineering teams * Trains, mentors, and develops junior team members * Guides strategic design and architecture decisions * Creates and reviews software design and requirements specifications * Influences test strategy and supports validation activities * Develops training procedures and materials * Evaluates and recommends tools, technologies, and processes * Prepares project status reports and manages projects to completion * Reviews final project documentation for accuracy * Acts as a subject matter expert and consultant to management * Addresses issues impacting design success and future concepts * Supports other departments and considers project-wide impacts * Maintains knowledge of the competitive landscape and regulatory strategy * Leads design reviews and maintains design history files * Represents the software development team with external entities * Analyzes returned products to determine root cause of failure * Ensures compliance with company policies and legal requirements * Participates in daily scrums for all projects
