Description

The Principal Systems Administrator serves as a senior technical leader within the IT organization, responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining complex enterprise systems and applications. This role provides strategic direction, mentorship to junior staff, and ensures alignment of IT solutions with business goals. The Principal Systems Administrator collaborates with cross-functional teams, drives innovation, and leads initiatives that enhance system performance, scalability, and security.

Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-level IT systems and applications. Serve as a technical advisor and subject matter expert across multiple platforms and technologies. Architect and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions to meet evolving business needs. Oversee system integrations, migrations, and upgrades with minimal disruption to operations. Mentor and guide Sr. Systems Administrators and other technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT leadership, and vendors to define system requirements and roadmaps. Conduct root cause analysis and develop long-term solutions for complex system issues. Ensure compliance with IT policies, standards, and best practices, including cybersecurity and data governance. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies to improve operational efficiency. Lead and manage high-impact IT projects from conception to completion. Required Experience and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 8+ years of progressive IT experience, including system administration, software development, and infrastructure management. Advanced proficiency in C#.NET, ASP.NET, MVC, RESTful services, API development, and JavaScript frameworks. Deep knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, SSIS, SSRS, and database architecture. Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Azure DevOps and Git. Strong analytical skills with the ability to model complex systems and processes using diagrams and mockups. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent are a plus.
