Job Summary:
The Principal System Analyst – Energy Management position serves as a strategic functional and technical leader for the operational excellence of UGI’s Energy Management Systems. These systems include vendor packaged software (i.e. GASTAR), portals (i.e Energy Management Website), and custom in-house applications (i.e. GASTAR Extended, system interfaces, user reporting) which support critical utility business processes (energy procurement & scheduling, supplier management, transportation customer programs, large customer billing, accounting). These systems serve internal UGI departments (Energy Supply, Major Accounts Sales & Billing, Rates, Engineering, Supply Accounting) and external business partners (pipelines, energy suppliers, transportation customers).
The job position requires business and technical expertise to oversee implementation of solutions that support Company service offerings, improve efficiencies of existing processes, and satisfy needs for new strategic opportunities. Business initiatives are rooted with the Company’s service tariffs which are subject to periodic review and updates with varying requirements for reporting and functional implementation within compressed timelines, requiring rapid response.
This position requires directing internal UGI staff and vendor resources to implement efficient SOX compliant business solutions which support ultra-high service level availability, including critical day support which may include off-hour time periods.

Duties and Responsibilities:
System Analysis: process re-engineering for workflow optimization; system requirements definition to include user story frameworks; gap and cost/benefit analysis Application Development: architect of scalable software solutions; programming for in-house custom interactive applications, interfaces and reports, including considerations for user experience optimization System Administration: oversee vendor bug reporting, system troubleshooting, problem resolution, release change management, and security administration Project Management: manage activities for medium to large sized projects that follow an agile methodology: project scoping, task tracking, resource allocation, testing, training, and rollout; project task coordination with the company’s IT departments Business Support: assist business teams in activities to support energy supplier administration, rate making, and ad-hoc reporting for department users and management; develop training documentation and facilitate training deployment for new functionality, new users, and refresher training; guidance and ongoing education for the Energy Management Systems team Leadership: manage vendor partnerships; drive stakeholder engagement; prioritize and monitor work assignments of the Energy Management Systems support team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
System Analysis & Design – skilled in translating business needs into technical solutions for existing and new business processes Technical Skillset – working experiences performing programming, office automation, report writing, and portal administration Technical Tools – proficient in use of SQL; intermediate experience with Microsoft .NET (VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET Core, Web API), HTML, JavaScript; exposure to low code development platforms (i.e. OutSystems) Databases – proficient in data modeling; exposure to Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server Training Skillsets – working experiences in training material development and training facilitation Business Acumen – ability to quickly comprehend the utility energy business in areas of Rate Tariffs, Gas & Electric Supply Practices, Accounting and Billing; including external supplier (NGS, EGS) management
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in business information systems, System Engineering or related field and complimented by minor or strong knowledge in Business, Statistics, Accounting, and/or Economics preferred. 5+ years of related System and Technology experience with proven track record of administering mission-critical systems; managing projects having rapid response development cycles; and leading system support teams preferred.
