Were looking for a visionary Principal Structural Engineer to help lead and expand our dynamic structural engineering team. This is more than a design roleits a strategic leadership position focused on technical excellence, team development, and client engagement. While the core focus is solar PV infrastructure, the role spans a wide range of structural scopes and requires a deep understanding of renewable energy project delivery.
Youll serve as a technical authority, mentor, and client-facing leader, driving innovation and quality across projects while shaping the future of our structural practice.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Oversight
Lead complex structural engineering projects, with emphasis on solar tracker foundations, structural systems, and remediation strategies.
Establish and maintain internal design standards, QA/QC protocols, and engineering best practices.
Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, and field reports.
Solve advanced technical challenges involving expansive soils, pile performance, ad-freeze, corrosion, and more.
Oversee post-installation testing, data analysis, and remediation recommendations.
Team Development & Mentorship
Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers through training, feedback, and career development planning.
Identify technical training needs and contribute to team growth strategies.
Collaborate with leadership to align hiring and team structure with company goals.
Client Engagement & Strategic Growth
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to EPCs, developers, and tracker manufacturers.
Lead client meetings, design workshops, and field investigations.
Support proposal development, pricing strategies, and scope definition for structural services.
Contribute to strategic pursuits and help expand our presence in the renewables market.
Project Oversight & Delivery
Manage multiple concurrent structural projects across various phases.
Coordinate with geotechnical and civil teams to deliver integrated foundation solutions.
Monitor project budgets, schedules, and resource allocations.
Review RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction-phase deliverables.
Additional Areas of Focus
Beyond renewable energy, youll contribute to broader structural scopes, including:
Structural design for buildings, industrial infrastructure, and prefabricated systems.
Deep and shallow foundation design (piles, caissons, spread footings, grade beams).
Structural assessments and retrofit evaluations.
Seismic, wind, and snow load analysis.
Construction administration, inspection, and field modifications.
Coordination with vendors for modular equipment and enclosure foundations.

Skills and Requirements
Required: PE license; Preferred: SE license
Bachelors in Civil or Structural Engineering (Masters preferred)
10+ years of progressive experience, including 5+ years in solar PV or renewable energy
Expertise in structural codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC) and geotechnical-structural interactions
Proficiency in structural design software (RISA, RAM, STAAD, SAP) and AutoCAD
Proven leadership in technical staff management, QA/QC, and mentoring
Strong experience in client management, proposal development, and business development
Excellent communication skills, including technical writing and presentations
Willingness to travel (~5%) for site visits and client meetings null
