Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Air Data System Principal Engineer / Sr Principal Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Melbourne, Florida. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Design, develop, and mature the Air Data hardware systemDevelop and mature the Vehicle Management System (VMS) Specification requirements and verification methodsContribute to the development of VMS software requirementsContribute to the development of the Supplier Statement of Work (SSOW)Engage with the supplier to understand all fault modesMature the redundancy & fault management analysis to ensure a robust designContribute to the development of high-fidelity modelsEngage with the Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) team to develop autogenerated Air Data algorithmsContribute to the development & execution of VMS test cases & test proceduresPerform lab integration and formal certification testingContribute to the development and execution of Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) for the platformSupport flight test activitiesWe seek candidates with strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and the ability to organize work, manage time, plan, and prioritize. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Aeronautical Engineer or a Sr Principal Aeronautical Engineer level.
The basic qualifications for a Principal Engineer Aeronautical are:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 5 years of system architecture definition experience OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 years of system architecture definition experience OR a PhD Degree in STEM with 1 year of system architecture definitionExperience with at least one of the following technical disciplines: subsystem integration and test, data bus architecture definition, system integrity analysis, Vehicle Management Systems architecture developmentMust have fundamental knowledge of aerodynamics including understanding of concepts like lift, drag, thrust, airflow, and how forces affect flight performance, stability, and controlMust have an active DoD Secret clearance (with background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation)Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to start of employment.The basic qualifications for a Sr Principal Engineer Aeronautical are:

Experience with design, development, analysis, and/or integration of Air Data Systems and air vehicle subsystems in the military aerospace environmentActive Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearanceExperience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) development tools such as CAMEOExperience using DOORS, Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian toolsExperience with supplier interaction and hardware procurement including environmental qualificationAirworthiness experienceIntegrated Hardware/Software (Subsystem/System Feature) validation experience.Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
