Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an **Air Data System Principal Engineer / Sr Principal Engineer** to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in **Melbourne, Florida** . This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
+ Design, develop, and mature the Air Data hardware system
+ Develop and mature the Vehicle Management System (VMS) Specification requirements and verification methods
+ Contribute to the development of VMS software requirements
+ Contribute to the development of the Supplier Statement of Work (SSOW)
+ Engage with the supplier to understand all fault modes
+ Mature the redundancy & fault management analysis to ensure a robust design
+ Contribute to the development of high-fidelity models
+ Engage with the Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) team to develop autogenerated Air Data algorithms
+ Contribute to the development & execution of VMS test cases & test procedures
+ Perform lab integration and formal certification testing
+ Contribute to the development and execution of Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) for the platform
+ Support flight test activities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Aeronautical Engineer or a Sr Principal Aeronautical Engineer level.
The basic qualifications for a **Principal Engineer Aeronautical** are:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 5 years of system architecture definition experience OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 years of system architecture definition experience OR a PhD Degree in STEM with 1 year of system architecture definition
+ Experience with at least one of the following technical disciplines: subsystem integration and test, data bus architecture definition, system integrity analysis, Vehicle Management Systems architecture development
+ Must have fundamental knowledge of aerodynamics including understanding of concepts like lift, drag, thrust, airflow, and how forces affect flight performance, stability, and control
+ Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (with background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation)
+ Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to start of employment.

+ Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 8 years of system architecture definition experience OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 6 years of system architecture definition experience OR a PhD Degree in STEM with 3 years of system architecture definition experience
+ Experience with at least one of the following technical disciplines: subsystem integration and test, data bus architecture definition, system integrity analysis, VMS architecture development
+ Must have fundamental knowledge of aerodynamics including understanding of concepts like lift, drag, thrust, airflow, and how forces affect flight performance, stability, and control
+ Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (with background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation)
+ Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to start of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Experience with design, development, analysis, and/or integration of Air Data Systems and air vehicle subsystems in the military aerospace environment
+ Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
+ Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) development tools such as CAMEO
+ Experience using DOORS, Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian tools
+ Experience with supplier interaction and hardware procurement including environmental qualification
+ Airworthiness experience
+ Integrated Hardware/Software (Subsystem/System Feature) validation experience.
Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
