The Role

As a Principal Solutions Architect at Lumen, you will serve as a senior leader and strategic partner across engineering and business domains. This role is instrumental in defining the direction of our digital platforms and delivering scalable, high-impact enterprise solutions.

 

You will operate with significant autonomy and influence, guiding cross-functional teams through complex technical landscapes while aligning solutions with long-term business objectives. This position requires a blend of deep technical expertise and leadership, with the ability to translate complex business needs into actionable, high-quality solutions.

 

We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in technical roles—such as software engineering or systems architecture—and a proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade solutions. Experience in the ticketing domain, especially with ServiceNow and legacy system migrations, is essential.

The Main Responsibilities Translate strategic vision into detailed solution plans with clear acceptance criteria.Act as a senior technical liaison between engineering and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and outcomes.Own and manage a prioritized software development backlog, balancing stakeholder input, technical constraints, and long-term platform strategy.Lead solution planning and backlog refinement to ensure clarity, feasibility, and alignment with architectural direction.Conduct business analysis to gather, document, and validate complex technical and functional requirements.Oversee software engineering timelines, track progress, and communicate risks, dependencies, and milestones to executive stakeholders.Support software releases and deployments, contributing to quality assurance and validation efforts.Collaborate with UX/UI and analytics teams to integrate user research and performance insights.Advocate for the voice of the customer and end user throughout the software lifecycle.Lead initiatives related to ticketing systems, including ServiceNow implementation, optimization, and migration.Mentor junior solution architects and contribute to the evolution of architectural practices across the organization.What We Look For in a Candidate 7–10 years of experience in IT development, architecture, or engineering roles; 5–7 years in technical product ownership or a similar software engineering environment.Deep technical background with hands-on experience in software development, systems integration, or architecture.Proven success in delivering scalable, enterprise-wide solutions.Expertise in ServiceNow and ticketing system migrations.Strong command of Agile methodologies and experience leading Agile ceremonies.Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with engineering teams and senior stakeholders.Strong business analysis skills, including stakeholder engagement and documentation.Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Asana, Visio, and Draw.IO.Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.Strategic mindset with a passion for innovation, mentorship, and continuous improvement.Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. government suitability clearance as a condition of employment.Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

 

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$149,084 - $198,779 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$156,539 - $208,718 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$163,993 - $218,657 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
