Expected salary range of $153,000 to $170,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
**PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION**
The Principal Solutions Architect, Data Platform & Cloud Engineering will be responsible for developing and leading the design of robust architectures that align with business objectives and support data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role is focused on creating scalable, high-performance data solutions that integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring that it is accessible, consistent, and secure. By utilizing modern data technologies and platforms, the Solutions Architect will enable data sharing across various business functions and ensure that data is transformed into valuable insights for both operational and strategic purposes. This position will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, assess existing systems, and design architectures that meet both current and future needs. The Solutions Architect will play a key role in driving innovation by introducing best practices in data management, governance, and analytics. They will also contribute to the continuous improvement of data processes, ensuring that the solutions developed are flexible, sustainable, and aligned with the organization's broader technology roadmap. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, with a deep understanding of cloud-based data platforms, integration technologies, and data governance. They will collaborate with IT, business, and leadership teams to ensure that the data architecture supports business priorities while optimizing performance, security, and cost efficiency. Additionally, this individual will provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members and contribute to the overall evolution of the company's data strategy.
**PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**
+ Design and implement scalable data architectures, including conceptual, logical, and physical models, that align with enterprise architecture frameworks to promote consistency, scalability, and support data driven decision making across the organization.
+ Lead the development, optimization, and automation of data pipelines and data warehousing solutions. Continuously evaluate and improve existing data systems to enhance accuracy, consistency, accessibility, performance, and user satisfaction while mitigating risks.
+ Collaborate with business and IT teams to translate needs into comprehensive data solutions that align with strategic goals. Communicate data strategies and complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders to ensure alignment and foster collaboration.
+ Establish and enforce data governance practices to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a culture of data stewardship. Promote a data driven culture by educating stakeholders on data management best practices, reporting tools, and the use of data insights to support strategic decisions.
+ Stay current on emerging data technologies and trends, and recommend innovative solutions that enhance organizational data maturity. Mentor and guide cross functional teams in designing and implementing data platforms that provide actionable insights for business users.
+ Design and implement DevOps and DevSecOps strategies for data platform automation, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing frameworks, and security integration throughout the data development lifecycle.
+ Collaborate with Cloud Engineering teams to architect resilient, scalable, and secure cloud native data infrastructure with a focus on automation, observability, high availability, and secure deployments.
+ Drive FinOps accountability by developing and monitoring cloud cost optimization strategies, including cost modeling, usage analysis, and governance. Evaluate and implement cloud native solutions in Azure for operations, monitoring, incident response, and cost transparency to ensure enterprise scalability and efficiency.
+ Mentor and guide cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of scalable solutions,including data platforms, that deliver actionable insights for business users, while supporting the growth and development of data teams.
+ Continuously assess and optimize existing data systems to improve efficiency, performance, and user satisfaction; identify and mitigate risks.
+ Communicate data strategies and complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering cross-functional collaboration and promoting a data-driven culture through education on data management, reporting tools, and strategic data use.
+ Evaluate and implement cloud-native solutions in Azure to support operations, monitoring, incident response, and cost transparency, enabling enterprise-wide scalability, resilience, and efficiency.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
+ 10-years experience in IT with at least 5-years in data architecture, data engineering, or similar role
+ In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, including services and tools such as Azure Databricks, Synapse, Fabric/Power BI, Azure AI Foundry, and Azure OpenAI
+ Deep expertise in data architecture, encompassing data modeling (OLTP and OLAP), ETL pipelines, data lakes, and business intelligence solutions. Proficient in both relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, MongoDB) and Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka), with familiarity in data formats such as Avro and Parquet and architectural concepts like Data Lake, Data Mart, DataMesh, and Data Hub
+ Strong understanding of data governance, data security best practices, and cybersecurity fundamentals in cloud-based and enterprise data systems. Experience with defining enterprise-level data standards and implementing secure, compliant architectures
+ Hands-on experience with data profiling, data cataloging, and maintaining Data Dictionaries, using tools such as Erwin, Power Designer, or similar platforms for managing complex data model
+ Demonstrated experience in DevOps or platform engineering within data platforms, including infrastructure automation and deployment workflows using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps
+ Proven experience in cloud architecture, particularly in Microsoft Azure, including infrastructure-as-code, network architecture, monitoring/logging frameworks, disaster recovery planning, and cloud cost optimization using FinOps principles and tools (e.g., Azure Cost Management, Cloudability)
+ Ability to analyze functional and non-functional business requirements and translate them into scalable technical data solutions
+ Strong leadership and project management skills, with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage large-scale initiatives, and align data strategies with business objectives
+ Excellent communication, consulting, and negotiation skills to effectively engage with both technical and business stakeholders, as well as internal teams and external vendors
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Master's Degree
+ Certifications in Azure Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer Expert, or FinOps Certified Practitioner
+ Familiarity with data governance best practices, including data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and the ability to ensure data security through encryption, access controls, and auditability
+ Expertise in optimizing Azure data solutions for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency, including performance tuning and troubleshooting complex data systems
+ Familiarity with SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) principles applied in data platform environments
