The Product Development team is looking for a highly motivated, hands-on Principal Solution Architect to lead the end-to-end architectural design and technical strategy for our next generation of connected smart home products. You will play a pivotal role in defining scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that span device, cloud, data, and application layers. In close collaboration with cross-functional engineering, product, and business teams, you’ll shape systems that power millions of IoT devices, real-time analytics, and intuitive user experiences. **Job Duties:** + Architect holistic, end-to-end solutions that integrate device, mobile/web applications, APIs, and cloud platforms (primarily Azure). + Translate complex business requirements and product concepts into scalable solution designs that meet functional, performance, security, and compliance needs. + Define solution-level tradeoffs across technical domains including: + Development cost and timeline + Hardware (BOM) and cloud infrastructure costs + Interoperability and system complexity + User experience impact + Technical debt and future extensibility + Lead the design of resilient and observable systems with recovery strategies for: + Connectivity interruptions + Message loss or delays + Service outages + User error and interrupted processes + Partner with product managers, technical teams, and enterprise architects to align solutions with long-term platform strategy and standardization efforts. + Support cross-team design reviews, architectural governance, and best practice enforcement. + Collaborate with cybersecurity and privacy teams to ensure secure-by-design and privacy-compliant architectures. + Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of architectural decisions, diagrams, and interfaces. **Must Haves:** + 12+ years of experience in software with a focus on solution architecture across cloud, device, and application domains. + Experience designing cloud-native, distributed systems using Azure or similar public cloud environments. + Understanding of IoT protocols, data pipelines, and API integration patterns. + Experience designing large-scale, resilient systems with high availability and strong observability. + Experience translating business needs into well-structured, technically feasible, and scalable solutions. + Familiarity with secure design principles and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC-2, ISO 27001). + Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to drive alignment and tradeoff discussions. **We Value:** + Stakeholder management skills to drive alignment and tradeoff discussions. + Experience with platform convergence, reusable architecture components, and modular system design. + Familiarity with smart home, connected device, or consumer electronics domains. + Prior experience working within a formal architectural governance structure (e.g., Architecture Review Board). + Knowledge of mobile/web app architecture frameworks (e.g., React, native apps). + Experience with TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture frameworks. + Background in embedded systems or firmware development is a plus. \#LI-EP1 \#LI-Hybrid Resideo is a $6.76 billion global manufacturer, developer, and distributor of technology-driven sensing and control solutions that help homeowners and businesses stay connected and in control of their comfort, security, energy use, and smart living.
