Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer or a Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role is located in Redondo Beach, CA, operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position has No Remote or Hybrid work available.
Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector team is seeking a talented and highly motivated Software Engineer to continue advancement in our leading-edge software for our most advanced systems. This project involves the design and development of software technologies that utilize Graphics Processor Units (GPU), supercomputers, and other advanced hardware for modeling & simulation, vehicle design optimization, and aircraft integrated technologies.
Primary responsibilities will be design, development, integration and testing of software systems. This person must enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic team environment. They should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This position offers multiple opportunities to work with other highly energetic team members both within the immediate team as well as coordinate collaborative development across projects and teams.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5 Years experience; OR a master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 3 Years experience; OR a PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 1 Years experience
Sr. Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 8 Years experience; OR a master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 6 Years experience; OR a PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 4 Years experience
Proficient in developing and debugging C++ code
3+ years of experience with NVIDIA GPU implementation, a solid understanding of GPU architecture and differences from CPUs, and memory management in parallel environments
Proficiency in optimization code techniques for performance on NVIDIA GPUs and in using performance profiling tools, such as NVIDIA Nsight Systems
Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize algorithms for parallel execution and identify performance bottlenecks
Proficient in C++11
Current Department of Defense Secret or Top Secret level security clearance
Experience with physics simulation modeling
Experience in FORTRAN
Experience using Linux
Experience with Agile development processes
Able to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and development environments
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic team environment
