Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Principal Software Engineer in Test to join the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Platform Data team! In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team working to deliver the services that power the data infrastructure of Autodesk's existing and future AEC products. This opportunity is for you if you are excited by the idea of transforming how AEC professionals use data to capture knowledge, inform decisions, and deliver projects.

In this role, you will work closely with software developers, product owners, and other QA and SETs to design and build test automation. You will ensure cloud services can be deployed frequently with minimal effort and high quality. You will own and drive initiatives related to improving quality, stability, reliability and usability of your team’s software deliverables.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with developers, QA analysts and SETs to identify and prioritize testing strategies where test automation best achieves the testing goals.

Design and implement test automation suites.

Assist team evaluate risk, quality, and/or stability on individual stories, initiatives, sprints, product milestones, and services. 

Collaborate with software developers to support, test and document APIs.  Ensure APIs are usable, complete (including sample code and documentation) and adhere to standards.

Mentor and provide direction to less experienced testers.

Collaborate with development and architecture teams to influence the architecture and design of software and help bring quality into the design of the product. 

Collaborate with other technical staff on the implementation, deployment and maintenance of the Automation Testing pipeline within Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines.

Actively participate in global or cross-functional teams.

Fully participate in community benefiting development by sharing best practices, lessons learned, code, techniques or tools.

Participate in test estimation and ensure automated testing is accounted for in planning or acceptance criteria.

Clearly document, manage, and prioritize defects from multiple sources.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field

8+ years experience in software industry including design and development of test automation suites for cloud services with focus on building high quality test automation used in CI/CD pipelines.

Experience developing cloud services in AWS is desired.

Experience with some of the following tools is desired: Blazemeter, JMeter, Cypress, Cucumber JVM, Postman, Wiremock, Rest Assured, Pact, BurpSuite.

Experience working on a scrum team developing cloud services.

Willingness to collaborate with colleagues across different time zones which may require limited work outside normal working hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using AI powered IDEs (Cursor, Copilot agent mode etc)
