Principal Software Engineer

Job Description:

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.

Overview:

As a Principal Software Engineer, you’ll be required to apply strategic insight and broad business knowledge to solve complex business and technical problems to deliver solutions for the AT&T Network. A Principal Software Engineer will lead critical, high-impact network projects and will design and implement innovative solutions for the business while influencing decisions on key network technologies.

Key Roles/Responsibilities:

Applies engineering principles and practice in broad areas of complex technical project work that requires in-depth analysis using advanced techniques, knowledge, and expertise.Performing architecture, design, development, and deployment of systems supporting network solutions critical to AT&T.Lead efforts to consolidate multiple network configuration management applications into a unified, efficient, and scalable solution.Gather and review software requirements, provide estimates, create design specifications, and work with engineers/architects to assess and test hardware and software interactions.Design and code software applications by applying various programming languages and network protocols.Develop solutions to integrate mainframe-based legacy systems with modern non-mainframe architectures, ensuring operational continuity during transformation.Develop and implement AI/ML-driven solutions to enhance automation, improve accuracy, and optimize network provisioning processes.Create innovative Agentic AI technologies to enable autonomous decision-making and adaptability in network configuration and provisioning systems.Develop and implement automated test plans, validate test environments, data, and results, design and implement code fixes, and produce reporting.Troubleshoot and resolve application configuration and environment issues.Provide technical expertise and mentorship to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with AT&T’s strategic goals and industry standardsUse continuous integration continuous deployment principals along with using Agile development methodologies to ensure timely delivery and deployment of critical business features.

Qualifications:

Experience with deploying cloud native applications on Azure and experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.Deep technical knowledge of IP networking, network device configuration, network OSS architecture, Opensource technologies and use of AI technologies to develop optimal business solutions and achieve cycle time reductions.Expertise with programming languages python, Java, JavaScript, React, Angular and shell scripting along with proficiency in Spring Boot, Microservices, and Spring Cloud.Experience developing RESTful APIs and web services for seamless integration.Knowledge of TIRKS and experience using and developing Network Operating Support Systems (OSS) to inventory, order and manage network infrastructure.Experience using network protocols like TCP, Netconf and programmatically configuration of network routers and switches.Experience developing AI/ML solutions to enable autonomous decision making and Intent-Based principals in network configuration and provisioning systems.

Our Principal Software Engineers earn between $158,200.00 - $237,400.00 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
