Your Impact
As a Principal Software Architect on the Commercial Architecture team at OpenText, you will lead the design and governance of modern application and cloud architectures across a diverse product landscape. This is a strategic and hands-on role focused on driving architectural consistency, scalability, and modernization across OpenText’s commercial software portfolio.
You will work cross-functionally with product engineering, operations, product management, and security to guide and influence the technical direction of cloud-native services, APIs, identity, and next-generation application platforms. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and a passion for designing large-scale, modern, secure systems.
AI and LLM experience is a strong bonus but not required.
You are great at
Lead architecture design and modernization efforts for SaaS and on-prem applications, APIs, and cloud-native services.Define scalable microservice-based patterns for application modernization, with a focus on multi-tenancy, resiliency, and observability.Guide product and engineering teams in building and evolving secure identity, authorization, and service communication strategies.Collaborate with cloud platform teams to align with infrastructure, DevSecOps, and container orchestration strategies.Provide architectural governance and consultation across a portfolio of products, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.Partner with engineering and business leaders to evaluate technology choices and prioritize architectural investment.Author architecture blueprints, patterns, and documentation that can be leveraged across teams and reused at scale.Act as a thought leader and mentor to technical teams, advocating for architectural excellence and cross-BU collaboration.
Required Qualifications
Overall experience of 14+ years10+ years of experience designing and building distributed, scalable, and secure enterprise systemsDeep understanding of application architecture patterns, including microservices, event-driven design, and REST APIsProven experience architecting solutions in public cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker)Strong knowledge of identity and access management patterns (OAuth2, OIDC, SSO, federated identity, entitlements)Strong background in Java or equivalent enterprise development stackExperience working in or with large-scale SaaS platforms, including deployment, scale, and operational considerationsExcellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholdersStrong documentation and diagramming skills; able to produce consumable and reusable architecture collateral
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
Experience working across multiple BUs or product lines in a federated enterpriseExperience with AI/ML or LLM-based systems, including model integration or inference orchestrationFamiliarity with OpenAPI, GraphQL, gRPC, and asynchronous messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ)Experience with service mesh, policy engines, and zero-trust architecturesExperience designing solutions that meet enterprise compliance, security, and regulatory standards
