As a Ping Identity Principal SRE, you will be involved in every facet of our on-demand SaaS services and will design, build, deploy, and maintain the infrastructure of one of the largest identity platforms in the world. We follow a DevOps model: our teams are integrated with development teams, and running continuous deployments daily with SRE expected to provide input in the product's design, development, deployment, and operations. You'll build automated infrastructure and deployment processes, and bring expertise in systems engineering.
Equally important is the social aspect of the role; You will work to build intra- and inter-team trust, develop a deep understanding of the team’s goals, develop a deep understanding of the goals of our counter-party teams across Engineering, on a per-project basis help determine what Engineering-as-a-holistic-whole should work towards, and then be effective at building consensus and driving the broader organisation to that goal.
Responsibilities:
Technical leadership of complex cross-organisation projects. Build understanding, consensus, and action through effective communication rooted in empathy, curiosity, and mutual trust. Collaborate as a member of our operational review board with other senior SRE members to establish technical direction and proper refinement of project initiatives. Build via code and maintain our production infrastructure hosted on AWS. Design and build pipelines to scale, deploy, and manage global infrastructure. Analyse complex system behavior, performance, and application issues. Develop observability, alerts, and runbooks. Capacity analysis and planning, traffic routing, and security policies for Ping's market leading Single Sign-On SaaS applications. This position is part of a follow-the-sun on-call rotation.We’re looking for someone who meets many of these criteria:
Software Engineering degree or similar. 5+ years in a software engineering role with direct, first-hand experience building and delivering maintainable software through concepts like: Cloud software development in a modern programming language Automated testing CI/CD Performance testing and profiling Secure development Code and configuration management Data modelling Deployment strategies Proven track record of building high level trust and influence across engineering organisations. 5+ years Amazon Web Services (AWS). Solid understanding of API gateways, reverse proxies, SDN, DNS, TLS, TCP, UDP. Experience provisioning large cloud environments using IAC tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform. Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and microservice architectures. Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Salt, Ansible, etc. Experience with observability tooling such as New Relic, Datadog, Grafana, Cloudwatch, etc. Linux/UNIX systems administration Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment.
