Principal Scientist CHO Cells, Media and Processes (x|f|m) - Hybrid
We are looking for a Principal Scientist CHO Cells, Media and Processes (x|f|m) for the Research and Development Advanced Therapy Solutions department at our sites in Ulm or Bielefeld, Sartorius Xell GmbH. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing the Technology Strategy | Roadmap in the field of Cell Culture Media and CHO Cell Lines & Processes. This role involves leveraging your expertise to generate and evaluate state-of-the-art knowledge for business potential, translating it into new and existing product or technology areas.

Our cross-functional team of cell culture professionals is looking forward to shaping the future with you. This position is available for full-time. It is a hybrid role, flexibly requiring presence on-site in Bielefeld and occasionally in Ulm (or vice versa), and with the opportunity to work some days remotely.

Grow with us – Your Responsibilities

Develop the strategy for our CHO upstream platform, especially for cell culture media and processes, consistent with our Product and Technology Roadmaps and aligning with the company's complex, functional long-term objectives

Design and lead tactical plans based on Division/Corporate strategy, advising program leads and the Senior Advanced Therapy Solutions leadership team on strategic plans

Develop, collaborate, and influence internal and external expert committees on an international scale

Maintain technical expert relationships with CHO or media customers and research partners, ensuring effective customer communication

Establish new internal and external collaborations as well as development and research programs

Ensure successful technical application of research projects, particularly in key areas crucial for the technology base of Sartorius

Consult and advise a global team of Senior Scientists, Managers in R&D, Scientists, and Product Management

Evaluate, analyze, and present project results in internal and external meetings

Represent Sartorius as a Key Opinion Leader and Subject Matter Expert in Committees, Conferences, Panels, and Consortia

 What will convince us

You have a PhD in Science specializing in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field

You should have several years of significant work experience in the biotech industry, ideally focusing on CHO processes and media, with both hands-on and strategic expertise

As a recognized expert (KOL, SME) in the technology area of CHO cell lines, processes, and cell culture media, you should have a proven track record in the industry, including publications and patents

Your experience in the industry and respective technology areas of Sartorius, with a proven track record, is essential

You must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English being required and German desired

The ability to prioritize multiple tasks and challenge existing systems and processes is crucial

We value creative and innovative thinking, along with strong communication and people/stakeholder management skills

You should have good organization and time management abilities, effectively working under pressure while being an analytical and conceptual thinker capable of solving complex problems

A willingness to travel approximately 25% is required
