About the Role
Caring.com is seeking a Principal Product Manager, Data to lead and elevate our data capabilities across the organization. In this high-impact role, you will serve as the strategic and executional center of our data initiatives—driving technical development with engineering teams while aligning cross-functional stakeholders around a shared vision for self-service insights and data enablement.
This role is ideal for a systems thinker and data evangelist who thrives at the intersection of product strategy, technical execution, and stakeholder influence.
Key Responsibilities
Own the data product vision—lead the strategy for Caring’s internal data platforms, including infrastructure, governance, and tools for self-service analytics. Develop, maintain, and evangelize the strategic data roadmap, ensuring alignment with company objectives, new product launches, and evolving reporting needs. Lead KPI governance efforts to ensure data coverage, quality, clarity, consistency, and adoption across teams. Champion the implementation of Caring’s Customer Data Platform (CDP), including robust cross-channel tracking of care seeker behavior and interactions. Partner with analytics to deploy tools for user behavior analysis, balancing usability, governance, and support. Define internal processes for product and engineering teams to ensure data and reporting requirements are considered from planning to implementation. Manage the data product backlog, driving prioritization based on business impact, strategic alignment, and stakeholder input. Write clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for data-related features and infrastructure projects. Collaborate closely with data engineering on architecture, tooling, and execution decisions As a member of Caring’s product and design team, contribute to our broader product vision and longer-term strategic roadmapQualifications
10+ years of product management experience, with at least 3+ years focused on data platforms or data products Proven success leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex technical initiatives Experience working directly with data engineering and analytics teams; familiarity with modern data architecture Expertise in data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, and tools within the modern data stack (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Airflow) Strong understanding of data governance, quality, and security best practices Proficient with self-service analytics platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar) Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels of the organization Experience working in agile environments, using tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar Passion for using data to improve the lives of caregivers, care seekers, and employeesWhat we can offer you
