**Xylem Electronics Centre of Excellence seeks to hire a Power Electronics Principal Engineer.**
Reporting to Director of Electronics Centre of Excellence (ECoE), the successful candidate will be instrumental in the development of power drive platforms for a range of custom motor drives (variable frequency), both standard and bespoke as well as other power electronics applications involving resonant converters and power supplies, to name a few, to surpass efficiency, usability and reliability requirements for a wide range of water applications.
Xylem Electronics Centre of Excellence has been built on the success of Power Electronics Centre of Excellence to ensure that new designs with electronics and firmware (and not just Power Electronics) follow design processes that (i) minimise the risk of supply chain disruption by choosing components with good future availability and multiple vendors and (ii) minimise the cost and time of future re-design work as components reach end of life, through good architectural choices both in hardware and embedded firmware.
Principal Engineer will support Power Electronics team in maintaining and expanding the core hardware platform architecture, the motor control firmware library and the development of motor control algorithms. They will work closely with the internal customers at Xylem’s businesses where power electronics is applicable to complete existing motor drive designs based on the proven architectures, and to extend the platform capabilities to higher powers and the widest range of motor topologies.
The successful candidate would have had extensive hands-on experience in electronics and in product design at Chief Engineer level or similar, owning various Electronics designs from conception to implementation and providing guidance to other team members. They will be comfortable liaising with subject matter experts throughout the business and would have demonstrated proven record of working in a dynamic commercial environment where timescales and budgets are critical.
This is a senior Technical role and requires an individual with substantial hand-on experience in industry who has ability to communicate with a wide range of multidisciplinary Engineers and other stakeholders at senior level as well as providing mentoring and support to Engineers at all career levels across different Electronics teams.
The successful candidate will thrive in environments where uncertainty is common, will be a hands-on consummate power electronics engineer, skilled at driving value from business and will be a strong team player as well as mentor to Engineers within the ECoE team.
