Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal / Sr. Principal Liaison Engineer Mechanical to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Engineering organization. The role will be located in Grand Sky, ND and is assigned to 1st shift on a 4 day - 10 hours/day schedule (Monday – Thursday).
In this role the selected individual will be the sole on-site Liaison Engineering source of Vehicle Engineering support in day-to-day technical tasking related to the Range Hawk program. The selected candidate will coordinate and communicate the site's goals and progress, author detailed engineering direction, as well as collaborate readily with support engineering roles to ensure the integrity of the final product.

Key Responsibilities
Act as engineering authority for non-conformances
Assess, disposition, and perform timely dispositions for nonconforming parts, assemblies, and installations as they arise in the flight test environment
Coordinate dispositioned repairs, as appropriate, with support roles in the organization
Provide technical knowledge and engineering analysis to a multi-disciplinary Northrop Grumman team
Assess, manage, and communicate the team's technical priorities and progress to company and customer senior leadership locally and nationally
Establish and maintain Material Review Board authority in order to autonomously address the rigors of the role
Basic knowledge of subsystems (electrical, hydraulics, fuels, fluids and propulsion systems) installations, composite structures, & metallic structures
Basic Qualifications (Principal):
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer include a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD in STEM
Basic Qualifications for a Sr Principal Engineer include a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 6 years of related experience OR a PhD in STEM and 3 years of related experience
Experience providing autonomous engineering support
Experience briefing senior leadership on team progress and goals
Experience with the MRB process
Experience with the manufacture and repair of composite structures
Experience with the conceptual operation, and troubleshooting of, typical aircraft subsystems
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
Previous MRB/LE Authority for Engineering
Experience with CATIA V5, NX, Visualization Pro, TeamCenter, MES, or other CAD programs
Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment
Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE ) (3-D model engineering definition)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership, and problem solving abilities
Experience in a technical leadership and/or management role
Experience working in an aircraft manufacturing facility
Experience interfacing with a military customer
Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment
Experience with aircraft structures design
Experience with aircraft subsystem design
Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
