Who We Are
The Oracle Rdb group develops, maintains, and enhances the Oracle Rdb product family, led by the Oracle Rdb relational database which is focused on the OpenVMS operating system platform. With a loyal customer base including stock exchanges, major manufacturers, transportation networks and telecommunication companies, Oracle Rdb is valued by customers for its reliability and performance. Sharing the kernel and lower levels of Rdb is Oracle CODASYL DBMS, a network model database that retains a small but important customer base in areas such as semiconductor manufacturing. And, filling out the product portfolio are a suite of related products such as Oracle Trace and Oracle CDD/Repository. With a history on VAX/VMS and Alpha/VMS, these products are currently being produced for OpenVMS Itanium, and soon to be in beta for OpenVMS on the x86-64 hardware platform, Oracle Rdb continues to provide robust, mission-critical database capabilities to these customers around the world, and the group continues to evolve the product to meet the needs of its customer base.
A software development engineer is sought to work on the port of the Oracle Rdb Product Family to the x86 version of the OpenVMS operating system. The engineer should also be able to contribute to the development and maintenance of the product set after the port has been completed. The product set includes 2 primary database products. These are Oracle Rdb and Oracle CODASYL DBMS. Oracle Rdb is a Relational Database Management system and Oracle CODASYL DBMS is a database engine that implements the Network Model. Both run on the OpenVMS operation system.
The x86 ported Oracle Rdb products run on top of Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) KVM. Candidates should be capable to undertake the installation and maintenance of OLE KVM hypervisors and the creation of OpenVMS VMs using OLE KVM.
