An opportunity exists at the Projects & Maintenance Group, Europe for the position of Principal Maintenance & Reliability Engineer ideally based in either Chertsey (UK) or Botlek (NL).
What is the role:
As a Principal Maintenance & Reliability Engineer you are member of the Projects & Maintenance Group, Europe in the newly formed maintenance excellence group. In this role you will be responsible to drive the continuous improvement of the maintenance & reliability performance in the European Region.
You will provide leadership and guidance for the development and implementation of assigned maintenance improvement initiatives. In this role you’ll work in close cooperation with the Regional Maintenance Teams and the EU Engineering department.
Typical activities include improvement of the maintenance workflow process and the implementation of relevant performance metrics, lead preventive maintenance task analyses, facilitate root cause analyses and support the development of the annual maintenance budget.
Additional activities among others will be to:
• Support the implementation of the EU maintenance and asset management strategy.
• Analyse Cost Drivers and Performance Killers and prioritize and lead the elimination of these.
• Lead risk-based scope reviews.
• Have responsibility for leading maintenance or reliability improvement initiatives or task forces. e.g. repairable process, vulnerability studies, asset care strategies.
• Support the material management group on spare part management and repair process
• Use reliability statistics for analysing equipment and asset behaviour e.g. failure rate, Weibull analyses and Reliability Models.
• Support the competency development of the maintenance technicians.
• Report to management and collaborators on performance.
What you will bring:
You will have a proactive approach structured approach to organisational change, have a continuous improvement approach and the ability of working within a team framework with other internal subject areas (e.g. purchasing, business, commercial groups, engineering, operations etc.), and with external contacts (e.g. customers, contractors, legal entities, equipment vendors, etc.)
Besides this, you’ll have:
• Extensive previous maintenance and reliability management experience.
• Preferably a Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Process engineering with an emphasis on Maintenance and asset management.
• In-depth knowledge on Maintenance and Asset management, Reliability Centred Maintenance, Reliability Analyses and Root Cause Analysis.
• Leadership in safety, cost, scope definition and execution,
• Broad general technical knowledge, i.e. Process, Machinery, Electrical, Instrumentation Controls Systems and static equipment.
• Ability to facilitate and lead root cause analyses and RCM workshops.
• Skills for negotiating, resolving differences, and developing consensus to secure win/win agreements.
• Ability to attain, share and maintain appropriate knowledge and skills within the group.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Good interpersonal, organizing and coordinating skills.
• Coaching and development skills.
• Ability to communicate and work multi-functionally inside of Air Products and customers.
• Ability and willingness to travel for shorter (days) site visits.
